Cosopt Sine

Cosopt sine eye drops are used to lower high pressure in the eye caused by glaucoma, especially when other eye drops (beta-blockers) alone are not enough.

How to Use

Dosage

One drop in the affected eye(s) in the morning and evening.

Method

Wash your hands. Tilt your head back, pull down your lower eyelid, and look up. Gently press the middle of the bottle to let one drop fall into the eye. Close your eye and press the inner corner with a finger for about two minutes. Do not touch the tip of the bottle to your eye.

Important

Do not use more than one drop in each affected eye twice a day.

  • Burning and stinging in the eyes
  • Taste disturbance
  • Redness in and around the eye
  • Itchy or watery eyes
  • Damage to the front surface of the eye
  • Swelling and/or irritation of the eye or around it
  • Feeling like something is in the eye
  • Reduced sensitivity of the eye surface
  • Eye pain
  • Dry eyes
  • Blurred vision
  • Headache
  • Sinus infection (feeling of pressure or stuffiness in the nose)
  • Nausea
  • Weakness/tiredness, fatigue
RARE
  • Inflammation of the iris (colored part of the eye)
  • Vision problems including changes in vision power (sometimes after stopping medicines that constrict the pupil)
  • Dizziness
  • Depression
  • Slow heartbeat
  • Fainting
  • Shortness of breath
  • Indigestion
  • Kidney stones
  • Temporary nearsightedness (goes away when treatment stops)
  • Detachment of the blood vessel layer under the retina after surgery (can cause vision problems)
  • Droopy eyelid
  • Double vision
  • Crusty eyelids
  • Swelling of the cornea (with vision problems)
  • Low pressure in the eye
  • Strong heartbeats (fast or irregular heart palpitations)
  • Raynaud's syndrome (swollen or cold hands and feet, poor circulation in arms and legs)
  • Leg cramps and/or pain when walking
  • Cough
  • Throat irritation
  • Dry mouth
  • Insomnia
  • Nightmares
  • Memory loss
  • Tingling or numbness in hands or feet
  • Worsening symptoms of myasthenia gravis (muscle weakness)
  • Decreased sexual desire
  • SLE (systemic lupus erythematosus; an autoimmune disease that can cause inflammation in internal organs)
  • Ringing in the ears
  • Runny or stuffy nose
  • Nosebleeds
  • Diarrhea
  • Contact dermatitis (skin inflammation)
  • Hair loss
  • Silvery-white rash (psoriasis-like)
  • Peyronie's disease (penis curvature)
  • Allergic reactions like rash, hives, itching, swelling of lips, eyes and mouth (in rare cases)
  • Wheezing
  • Low blood sugar
  • Stomach pain
  • Vomiting
  • Muscle pain not caused by exercise
  • Sexual dysfunction
  • Hallucinations
  • Increased heart rate
  • High blood pressure

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to dorzolamide, timolol, or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Do not use if you have or have had breathing problems like asthma or severe lung disease, or heart problems like slow heartbeat or heart failure.
  • Do not use if you have severe kidney problems, kidney stones, or high acidity in your blood.
  • Tell your doctor if you wear soft contact lenses, as this medicine has not been studied in patients using them.
  • Tell your doctor before any surgery that you are using Cosopt sine, because it can affect other medicines used during anesthesia.
