How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will tell you the dose; for Addison's disease, usually 0.05 mg (half a tablet) to 0.3 mg (3 tablets) once daily, and for children, 0.05 mg to 0.1 mg daily.

Method

Take tablets by mouth, they can be divided into equal halves.

Important

Do not exceed the maximum dose prescribed by your doctor, generally 0.3 mg for adults with Addison's disease and 0.1 mg for children.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Depression, mood swings, anxiety, sleep problems, difficulty thinking.
  • Increased risk of infections (e.g., fungal or viral infections).
  • Muscle weakness or pain.
  • Bone thinning (osteoporosis) or fragile bones.
  • Stomach ulcers, stomach pain, indigestion, bloating.
  • Thinning skin, bruising, facial redness, acne, stretch marks.
  • High blood pressure.
  • Fluid retention (swelling).
  • Weight gain.
  • High blood sugar or difficulty controlling diabetes.
  • Difficulty sleeping.
  • Headache.
  • Fatigue.
RARE
  • Difficulty breathing, swelling of the face, lips, or tongue, severe stomach pain, rash.
  • Blood clots.
  • Pancreatitis, causing severe stomach and back pain.
  • Heart failure (shortness of breath).
  • Glaucoma, cataracts, vision problems, blurred vision.
  • Seizures (convulsions).
  • Severe blood loss.
  • Hormonal imbalances, such as Cushing's syndrome (round face, weight gain in the upper body).
  • Slowed growth in children.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to fludrocortisone or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Do not use if you have an untreated bacterial, viral, or fungal infection.
  • Avoid use if you have a stomach ulcer, active tuberculosis, or a severe mental illness.
  • Cortiflix can cause serious mental health problems. Contact your doctor immediately if you experience mood changes, depression, or unusual thoughts.
  • This medicine weakens your immune system. Avoid infectious diseases and tell your doctor if you have been exposed to chickenpox, shingles, or measles.
