How to Use

Dosage

Apply 2.5 cm of gel onto a wet toothbrush and brush for about 1 minute, 1-2 times daily.

Method

Brush your teeth and gums thoroughly. If used for dentures, brush the dentures. Spit out any extra gel. Do not rinse your mouth immediately after using the gel.

Important

Do not use more than 2.5 cm of gel twice a day. For gum inflammation, do not use for longer than one month without talking to a dentist.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Coated tongue.
  • Dry mouth.
  • Loss or change in taste.
  • Tongue pain.
  • Burning sensation in the mouth.
  • Sore mouth or changes in mouth sensation.
RARE
  • Staining of tongue or teeth.
  • Mouth irritation.
  • Peeling or shedding of the lining of the mouth.
  • Swelling of the lining of the mouth.
  • Swelling of the salivary glands (parotid gland).

Important Warnings

  • Do not use Corsodyl if you are allergic to chlorhexidine digluconate or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • This medicine is for use in the mouth only. Do not swallow it.
  • Avoid getting the gel in your eyes or ears. If it gets into your eyes, rinse immediately and thoroughly with water.
  • Stop using the gel and contact a doctor right away if you get a rash, swelling of your lips, tongue, throat or face, or have trouble breathing, as these can be signs of a serious allergic reaction.
  • Stop using the gel and tell your dentist if your mouth feels sore or irritated.

  • The gel can temporarily stain your tongue or teeth. You can reduce staining by avoiding colored foods or drinks (like tea, coffee, red wine). Brushing helps, but professional cleaning might be needed.
  • Some toothpastes can stop Corsodyl from working. After brushing your teeth, rinse your mouth thoroughly with water and wait 5 minutes before using Corsodyl, or use Corsodyl at a different time of day.
  • Do not use this medicine for a long time without talking to your dentist or doctor.
  • For children under 12 years, use only as directed by a healthcare professional.
