Confidex

Confidex is used to prevent or treat bleeding caused by inherited or acquired deficiency of vitamin K-dependent coagulation factors II, VII, IX, and X, when specific individual factor preparations are not available.

How to Use

Dosage

Your dose depends on your body weight, the severity and nature of your illness, the location and intensity of bleeding, or whether it is needed to prevent bleeding during surgery.

Method

The prepared solution is given slowly into a vein.

Important

For patients weighing over 100 kg, the maximum single dose (Factor IX) is 2500 IU (INR 2.0–3.9), 3500 IU (INR 4.0–6.0), and 5000 IU (INR > 6.0).

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Blood clots forming in blood vessels
  • Headache
  • Increased body temperature
RARE
  • Hypersensitivity or allergic reactions
  • Excessive clotting causing severe bleeding
  • Severe allergic reaction (anaphylactic reaction) including shock
  • Formation of circulating antibodies to one or more coagulation factors

Important Warnings

  • Do not use Confidex if you are allergic to the active substances or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • You have a higher risk of blood clot formation (e.g., disseminated intravascular coagulation).
  • You are allergic to heparin, which causes a decrease in platelet count (heparin-induced type II thrombocytopenia).
  • If you experience a severe allergic reaction (difficulty breathing or dizziness), Confidex administration must be stopped immediately.
  • You have an increased risk of blood clots, especially if you have had a heart attack, have liver disease, have recently had surgery, are a newborn, or are at risk for vascular occlusions.

  • Do not mix Confidex with other medicines.
  • Confidex should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless absolutely necessary.
  • Do not use the solution if it is cloudy or contains particles.
