How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor or nurse will determine the correct dose for you based on your infection and needs.

Method

This medicine is given as an injection into a vein or muscle, or as a slow drip (infusion) into a vein by a doctor or nurse.

Important

The maximum daily dose will be decided by your doctor.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Inflammation of a vein (thrombophlebitis)
  • Feeling sick (nausea), vomiting, or diarrhea
  • Skin rash
RARE
  • Increased number of white blood cells
  • Red, raised, itchy bumps on the skin (hives or urticaria)
  • Severe inflammation of the large intestine (colitis), causing stomach pain and diarrhea
  • Decreased number of white blood cells (leukopenia), which can make you more prone to infections
  • Decreased number of platelets, which can cause bleeding or bruising easily (thrombocytopenia)
  • Liver damage
  • Kidney damage
  • Fungal infections in the mouth or genital area
  • Decreased number of red blood cells (anemia), causing tiredness
  • Swelling of the skin, especially around the face and throat (angioedema)
  • Severe allergic reactions with extensive rash, fever, tiredness, swelling of the face or lymph nodes, and affecting organs like the liver, kidneys, or lungs (DRESS syndrome)
  • Kidney inflammation (interstitial nephritis)

Important Warnings

  • Do not use Cloxacillin Navamedic if you are allergic to cloxacillin or any other penicillin medicines.
  • Do not use Cloxacillin Navamedic if you are allergic to cephalosporins (another type of antibiotic).
  • Tell your doctor or nurse if you have kidney problems.
  • Tell your doctor or nurse if you have or get diarrhea while taking this medicine.
  • Seek immediate medical help if you get a severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis), which can be life-threatening. Signs include skin redness, itchy rash (hives), difficulty breathing, or dizziness.

  • Contact your doctor or nurse right away if you develop an infection with fever, severe weakness, or local signs of infection (like a sore throat or urinary problems). This medicine can rarely affect your white blood cells, making you more prone to infections.
