Cloxacillin Macure is an antibiotic that stops bacteria from growing, used to treat serious infections like skin infections, heart infections, bone infections, and blood poisoning.
For adults, 0.5-1 gram is given into a muscle four times a day, or 1-2 grams into a vein three to four times a day, or 2 grams as a short drip into a vein four to six times a day. For children, the dose depends on their weight: 50 mg per kg of body weight per day, divided into 4 doses, given into a muscle, or 100 mg per kg of body weight per day (or more), divided into 4-6 doses, given into a vein.
A doctor or nurse will give you this medicine as an injection into a muscle or vein, or as a drip into a vein.
The most you can usually get in a day is 6 grams as a continuous drip into a vein; for very serious infections, this can be increased up to 12 grams per day.
