How to Use

Dosage

Typically, 100-200 mg three times a day. For migraines, take 200 mg at the first symptoms and another 200 mg if needed after 1-2 hours. For menstrual pain, take 200 mg three times a day as needed.

Method

Take the tablets by mouth as directed by your doctor or pharmacist.

Important

Do not exceed 600 mg per day.

  • Stomach inflammation (gastritis)
  • Severe skin rashes with blisters, especially around the eyes, mouth, throat, and genitals (e.g., Stevens-Johnson syndrome)
  • Painful urination
  • Yellowish urine
  • Headache
  • Dizziness
  • Tremors
  • Unexplained good mood (euphoria)
  • Fatigue
  • Shortness of breath
  • Abnormal lung X-ray findings
  • Constricted airways (bronchospasm)
  • Asthma attacks
  • Low platelet count (thrombocytopenia)
  • Low red blood cell count (anemia)
  • Low white blood cell count (leukopenia)
  • Reversible liver dysfunction
  • Toxic hepatitis
  • Swelling
  • High blood pressure
  • Heart failure
  • Increased risk of heart attack or stroke

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to tolfenamic acid, similar medicines (fenamates), or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not take if you have had allergic reactions (like rash, wheezing, or runny nose) after taking aspirin or other painkillers.
  • Do not take if you have severe liver, kidney, or heart problems.
  • Do not take if you have a stomach or gut ulcer, severe stomach pain, black stools, or blood in your stools.
  • Do not take if you have a tendency to bleed, a history of bleeding from the stomach or gut, or a brain hemorrhage.

  • Do not take during the last three months of pregnancy.
  • Stop taking Clotam and contact your doctor immediately if you develop a severe rash that may blister, especially around the eyes, mouth, throat, and genitals.
  • There may be a slightly increased risk of heart attack or stroke with this medicine; this risk increases with higher doses and longer use, so do not exceed the recommended treatment duration.
  • Long-term use of any headache medicine can worsen headaches; if you have continuous headaches while using Clotam, contact your doctor and do not increase the dose.
