How to Use

Dosage

Take one 75 mg tablet once a day. For severe chest pain or heart attack, a doctor might give a starting dose of 300 mg (4 tablets) once, then you continue with 75 mg daily.

Method

Swallow the tablet with or without food, at the same time each day.

Important

Do not take more than one 75 mg tablet daily as a regular dose.

  • Stomach ulcer
  • Vomiting or nausea
  • Constipation
  • Gas in the stomach or intestines
  • Skin rash or itching
  • Dizziness or vertigo
  • Tingling or numbness
  • Enlarged breasts in men
  • Yellow skin or eyes (jaundice)
  • Severe stomach pain, possibly with back pain
  • Fever, difficulty breathing, sometimes with cough
  • Widespread allergic reactions (e.g., feeling of warmth with sudden discomfort that leads to fainting)
  • Swelling in the mouth
  • Skin blisters
  • Skin allergy
  • Sore mouth (stomatitis)
  • Low blood pressure
  • Confusion or hallucinations
  • Joint or muscle pain
  • Changes in taste or loss of taste
  • Hypersensitivity reactions with chest or stomach pain
  • Symptoms of persistent low blood sugar

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to clopidogrel or any other ingredients.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have active bleeding, such as a stomach ulcer or bleeding in the brain.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have severe liver disease.
  • Tell your doctor if you are at high risk of bleeding (e.g., have a stomach ulcer, a blood disorder, a recent severe injury, or recent/upcoming surgery, including dental surgery).
  • Tell your doctor immediately if you develop a fever, unusual bruising, extreme tiredness, confusion, or yellowing of the skin or eyes, as these could be signs of a serious blood disorder (TTP).

  • If you cut or injure yourself, bleeding may take longer to stop. Contact your doctor immediately if you are concerned about bleeding.
  • Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor tells you to.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Prodrug. Genotype affects the response. Consider potential interactions especially with other drugs that increase the risk of bleeding. Grapefruit reduces the response. (updated 19.9.2025)
