Cliovelle is a hormone replacement medicine containing female sex hormones (estrogen and progestagen) used to relieve menopausal symptoms and prevent bone loss in women who had their last period at least one year ago.

How to Use

Dosage

Take one tablet daily.

Method

Swallow the tablet whole with enough water, preferably at the same time each day.

Important

Do not take more than one tablet per day.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Vaginal bleeding
  • Breast pain or tenderness
  • Fungal infection in the genital area or vaginal inflammation
  • Fluid retention (swelling due to fluid in the body)
  • Feeling down or worsening depression
  • Migraine or worsening migraine
  • Headache
  • Feeling sick (nausea)
  • Back pain
  • Breast swelling or enlargement
  • Uterine fibroids (benign growths in the womb) or their worsening/reappearance
  • Swelling in the arms or legs
  • Weight gain
RARE
  • Allergic reaction (hypersensitivity)
  • Nervousness
  • Inflammation of surface veins with a blood clot
  • Abdominal pain, bloating, or discomfort
  • Gas or feeling of fullness in the stomach area
  • Increased hair growth on the body and face
  • Acne
  • Hair loss
  • Itching
  • Hives (itchy red welts on the skin)
  • Leg cramps
  • Blood clot in the lung (pulmonary embolism)
  • Deep vein inflammation with a blood clot
  • Severe allergic reactions that can be life-threatening (anaphylaxis)
  • Gallbladder problems
  • Skin discoloration, especially on the face and neck (dark spots known as chloasma)
  • Painful, red skin lumps (erythema nodosum)
  • Rash with ring-shaped redness or blisters (erythema multiforme)
  • Dry eyes
  • Changes in tear film

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you have or suspect breast cancer.
  • Do not take if you have an estrogen-sensitive cancer (e.g., endometrial cancer) or suspect you have one.
  • Do not take if you have unexplained vaginal bleeding.
  • Do not take if you have untreated abnormal thickening of the womb lining.
  • Do not take if you have or have had a blood clot in a vein (e.g., in the legs or lungs).

  • Do not take if you have a blood clotting disorder.
  • Do not take if you have or recently had a disease caused by blood clots in arteries (e.g., heart attack, stroke, or angina).
  • Do not take if you have or have had liver disease and your liver function tests are still abnormal.
  • Do not take if you have porphyria (a rare blood disease).
  • Do not take if you are allergic to estradiol valerate, norethisterone acetate, or any other ingredients in Cliovelle.
  • Stop taking Cliovelle and contact your doctor immediately if you notice: Yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice), swelling of the face, tongue, or throat, difficulty swallowing, hives, or breathing problems, a significant rise in blood pressure, your first migraine-like headache, if you become pregnant, or signs of a blood clot (e.g., painful swelling and redness in the leg, sudden chest pain, or difficulty breathing).
