Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Severe inflammation of the bowel (pseudomembranous colitis)
  • Diarrhea
  • Abdominal pain
  • Abnormal liver function test results
RARE
  • Vomiting
  • Nausea
  • Maculopapular rash (rash with spots and bumps)
  • Hives (urticaria)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to clindamycin, lincomycin, or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have or have had any bowel disease.
  • If you have kidney problems or experience reduced urine output, fluid retention leading to swelling, shortness of breath, or nausea, contact your doctor immediately.
  • If you experience prolonged, bloody, or severe diarrhea during or after treatment, contact your doctor.
  • Always take capsules as directed, in an upright position with enough water, to avoid irritation of the esophagus.
