How to Use

Dosage

For adults and adolescents over 12 years, the typical dose is 1200-2700 mg daily, divided into 2-4 doses.

Method

This medicine is given as an infusion directly into a vein (drip). A doctor or nurse will administer it, and the infusion usually takes 10–60 minutes.

Important

The maximum daily dose is 2700 mg.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Nausea
  • Stomach pain

RARE
  • Severe, persistent, or bloody diarrhea (sign of bowel inflammation)
  • Changes in blood counts (e.g., fewer white blood cells, fewer platelets)
  • Vein inflammation (thrombophlebitis)
  • Inflammation of the esophagus
  • Inflammation of the mouth lining
  • Skin changes (e.g., widespread rash with blisters, hives, itchy skin)
  • Changes in liver function tests
  • Nervous system disorders (e.g., nerve signal blocking, taste disturbances)
  • Low blood pressure
  • Pain and abscess at the injection site
  • Sudden swelling of skin and mucous membranes (e.g., throat, tongue) causing breathing difficulties, joint swelling
  • Drug fever
  • Severe skin reactions (e.g., Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, exfoliative dermatitis)
  • Vaginal inflammation
  • Liver inflammation (hepatitis) with yellowing of skin and eyes (jaundice)
  • Joint pain or tenderness (polyarthritis)
  • Anaphylactic shock (severe allergic reaction with low blood pressure, pale skin, fast heart rate, reduced consciousness)
  • Disturbed sense of smell
  • Drowsiness
  • Dizziness
  • Headache
  • Fever, swollen lymph nodes, or rash (DRESS syndrome, a serious allergic reaction)
  • Injection site irritation
  • Fluid retention leading to swelling in legs/ankles/feet, shortness of breath, or nausea

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to clindamycin, lincomycin, or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Seek immediate medical help if you develop severe skin reactions (like blisters or peeling skin), a severe allergic reaction with high fever, or a sudden rash with pus-filled bumps.
  • Contact your doctor immediately if you have severe, long-lasting, or bloody diarrhea during or after treatment, as this could be a sign of serious bowel inflammation.
  • Tell your doctor if you have liver or kidney problems, muscle diseases (like myasthenia gravis or Parkinson's), or a history of bowel inflammation.
  • This medicine is not for children under 12 years of age.

  • If you notice reduced urination, swelling in your legs, ankles, or feet, shortness of breath, or nausea, contact your doctor immediately as these could be signs of acute kidney injury.
