How to Use

Dosage

Take this medicine exactly as your doctor has prescribed.

Method

Swallow the tablets whole with a glass of water. Do not chew them.

Important

The maximum daily dose for adults and young people over 14 years is 1.8 grams of clindamycin.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Stomach pain, feeling sick (nausea), throwing up (vomiting), and loose stools (diarrhea).
RARE
  • Serious bowel inflammation with watery diarrhea, fever, stomach cramps, or bloody stools; inflammation of the esophagus, tongue, or mouth.
  • Changes in blood tests, such as low levels of platelets or white blood cells.
  • Drug fever; severe allergic reactions including swelling (face, throat, limbs), difficulty breathing, or shock.
  • Muscle weakness (due to blocked nerve signals); changes in taste or smell; dizziness, headache.
  • Temporary increase in liver enzymes (shown in blood tests); temporary liver inflammation with yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice).
  • Skin rashes resembling measles, itching, hives, and swelling; severe skin reactions with blisters or peeling; vaginal discharge.
  • Swelling or inflammation of the joints.

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to clindamycin, lincomycin, or any other ingredients.
  • Tell your doctor if you have liver, kidney, nerve, or muscle problems, or have had bowel diseases.
  • Seek immediate medical help if you experience severe allergic reactions like swelling of the face or throat, trouble breathing, or shock.
  • If you get severe watery diarrhea, fever, stomach cramps, or bloody stools, stop taking this medicine and contact your doctor right away. Do not take anti-diarrhea medication.
  • For long-term use (more than 3 weeks), your doctor will check your blood and organ functions regularly.

  • This medicine is not for treating viral infections (like colds) or meningitis (brain lining infection).
  • Do not stop taking this medicine without talking to your doctor, even if you feel better, to prevent the infection from returning.
