How to Use

Dosage

The recommended dose is one 14 mg tablet once daily.

Method

Take Clefirem by mouth once a day, at any time, with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole with some water; do not divide, crush, or chew it.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Headache
  • Diarrhea, feeling sick (nausea)
  • Higher liver enzyme levels (shown in blood tests)
  • Hair thinning
  • Pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas, causing stomach pain, nausea, or vomiting)
  • Herpes virus infections, such as cold sores or shingles, which can cause blisters, burning, itching, numbness, or pain.
  • Flu-like symptoms, upper respiratory infections (like colds), urinary tract infections, bronchitis, sinusitis, sore throat, stomach flu caused by virus, tooth infection, tonsillitis, or foot fungus.
  • Low red blood cell count (anemia), changes in liver and white blood cell test results, and increased muscle enzymes.
  • Mild allergic reactions
  • Anxiety
  • Numbness, tingling, weakness, or pain in parts of the body, such as the lower back, legs, hands, or fingers.
  • Feeling your heart beat fast (palpitations)
  • Increased blood pressure
  • Vomiting, toothache, pain in the upper stomach
  • Rash, acne
  • Pain in tendons, joints, bones, or muscles (musculoskeletal pain)
  • Needing to urinate more often than usual
  • Heavy periods
  • General pain
  • Lack of energy or feeling weak (asthenia)
  • Weight loss
RARE
  • Severe allergic reactions, such as hives, swelling of the face, lips, or tongue, or sudden difficulty breathing.
  • Severe skin reactions, such as widespread rashes, blisters, fever, or sores in the mouth.
  • Severe infections or sepsis (a life-threatening infection) with symptoms like high fever, shaking, chills, reduced urine, or confusion.
  • Lung inflammation (pneumonitis) with symptoms like difficulty breathing or a persistent cough.
  • Low platelet count in the blood.
  • Increased skin sensitivity, sharp or throbbing nerve pain in arms or legs (peripheral neuropathy).
  • Nail problems.
  • Pain after an injury.
  • Psoriasis.
  • Inflammation of the mouth or lips.
  • Abnormal blood fat levels.
  • Colon inflammation (colitis).
  • Liver inflammation or damage.
  • High blood pressure in the blood vessels of the lungs (pulmonary hypertension).
  • Severe liver disease, which can cause yellow skin or eyes, unusually dark urine, unexplained nausea, vomiting, or stomach pain.

Important Warnings

  • If you have liver problems or drink a lot of alcohol, tell your doctor. They will check your liver.
  • If you have high blood pressure, tell your doctor. Clefirem can make it higher.
  • Tell your doctor if you have an infection or feel sick. Clefirem can make it harder for your body to fight infections.
  • If you get bad skin rashes, blisters, or sores, tell your doctor right away.
  • Tell your doctor if you have unexplained cough or trouble breathing.
