How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will decide your dose, usually 1–2 ml (200 mg/ml strength) or 1 ml (500 mg/ml strength).

Method

The medicine is injected deep into a muscle, usually in your buttock.

Important

Injections are usually given every 1–4 weeks; doses over 2 ml should be divided between two injection sites.

  • Difficulty reaching orgasm in women
  • Fainting

  • Redness or soreness at injection site
  • Changes in heart rhythm (slow, irregular, or very fast heartbeat)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to zuclopenthixol or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Do not take if your level of consciousness is reduced, if you have certain blood abnormalities, or if you have a rare adrenal gland condition called pheochromocytoma.
  • Tell your doctor if you have liver disease, heart disease, a history of seizures, diabetes, an organic brain syndrome (brain disorder), blood clots, or are undergoing cancer treatment.
  • Discuss with your doctor if you have stroke risk factors (e.g., smoking, high blood pressure), low potassium or magnesium levels, other heart or blood vessel diseases, or are using other antipsychotic medicines.
  • This medicine is not recommended for children or adolescents.

  • Avoid alcohol during treatment, as it can increase drowsiness.
  • If you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or breastfeeding, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice. Do not breastfeed while using this medicine.
  • This medicine may cause drowsiness, especially at the start of treatment. Do not drive or operate machinery until these effects wear off.
  • Seek immediate medical help if you experience high fever, severe muscle stiffness, confusion, sweating, and a fast heartbeat (these could be signs of neuroleptic malignant syndrome, a rare but serious condition).
  • Contact your doctor right away if you have involuntary, repeated movements of your mouth and tongue (these could be early signs of tardive dyskinesia).
  • Report to your doctor immediately if your skin or the whites of your eyes turn yellow (signs of liver problems).
  • Seek urgent medical attention if you notice blood clots, especially in your legs (swelling, pain, redness) or if you experience chest pain and breathing difficulties (these could be blood clots that have travelled to your lungs).
