How to Use

Dosage

Usually 1-3 ml (50-150 mg) per injection. The doctor decides your dose and how often you get it. Elderly patients and those with liver disease usually receive smaller doses.

Method

The medicine is injected into the muscle in your buttocks. If the dose is more than 2 ml, it might be split into two injections.

Important

Up to 4 injections (total 8 ml or 400 mg) over a maximum of two weeks.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Unusual movements or muscle stiffness, shaking, and restlessness that makes it hard to sit still or stand.
  • Dizziness (especially when standing up quickly).
  • Blurred vision.
  • Difficulty concentrating.
  • Dry mouth.
  • Numbness or tingling in arms and legs.
  • Memory loss.
  • Nervousness.
  • Depression.
  • Insomnia (trouble sleeping).
  • Apathy (lack of interest or emotion).
  • Abnormal dreams.
  • Urination problems (frequent need to urinate or inability to control urination).
  • Increased saliva production.
  • Unusually fast heart rate.
  • Feeling of weakness.
RARE
  • Rash.
  • Increased sweating.
  • Headache.
  • Convulsions (fits).
  • Increased or decreased sexual desire.
  • Vomiting.
  • Diarrhea.
  • Nausea (feeling sick).
  • Low blood pressure.
  • Stuffy nose.
  • Shortness of breath.
  • Unexpected milk production (in women).
  • Allergic reactions.
  • Redness or soreness at the injection site.
  • Changes in heart rhythm (slow heart rate, irregular beats, or a specific type of irregular heartbeat called torsades de pointes).
  • Blood clots, especially in the legs (swelling, pain, redness), which can travel to the lungs causing chest pain and breathing problems. Seek immediate medical attention for these symptoms.

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to zuclopenthixol or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not take if you have reduced consciousness, unusual blood levels, or a rare adrenal gland tumor (pheochromocytoma).
  • Seek medical help right away if you get high fever, unusual muscle stiffness, or confusion, especially with sweating and fast heartbeat. These can be signs of a rare, serious side effect.
  • Tell your doctor if you or your family have had blood clots, as this medicine can increase the risk.
  • Do not use if you are pregnant (especially in the last 3 months) or breastfeeding. Talk to your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to be, or breastfeeding.

  • Avoid alcohol and do not drive or use machines until you know how this medicine affects you, as it can cause drowsiness and dizziness.
  • Inform your doctor about any heart, liver, or kidney problems, epilepsy, diabetes, or if you have had a stroke or have risk factors for one.
  • This medicine is not recommended for children and adolescents.
