How to Use

Dosage

The usual dose is 160 micrograms once a day. Some people may only need 80 micrograms once a day.

Method

Use the inhaler by breathing in through your mouth while pressing down on the top of the inhaler, then hold your breath for about 10 seconds.

Important

Do not exceed 640 micrograms per day.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Hoarseness
  • Soreness, inflammation, or irritation in mouth or throat
  • Thrush (fungal infection in the mouth)
  • Headache
  • Altered taste
  • Dryness in mouth or throat
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Allergic reactions like rashes, redness, itching, or hives
  • Worsening cough or wheezing right after using the inhaler
RARE
  • Palpitations (fast or irregular heartbeat)
  • Abdominal discomfort or pain
  • High blood pressure
  • Severe allergic reactions with swelling of lips, tongue, and throat

Important Warnings

  • Do not use this medicine for sudden asthma attacks; use a separate rescue inhaler.
  • Do not use if you are allergic to ciclesonide or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Tell your doctor if you have or have had tuberculosis, fungal, viral, or bacterial infections.
  • Contact your doctor immediately if your breathing worsens (e.g., more cough, wheezing, chest tightness) or if your rescue inhaler doesn't help.
  • Do not stop using this medicine even if you feel better, unless your doctor tells you to.
