How to Use

Dosage

The usual dose is 160 micrograms once a day.

Method

Inhale the medicine through your mouth into your lungs once or twice daily, as instructed by your doctor, usually in the morning or evening. It's important to use it every day, even when you feel well.

Important

The maximum daily dose is 640 micrograms, taken as two separate doses of 320 micrograms.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Hoarseness
  • Soreness, inflammation, or irritation in the mouth or throat
  • Fungal infection in the mouth (thrush)
  • Headache
  • Bad taste in mouth
  • Dry mouth or throat
  • Nausea or vomiting
RARE
  • Pounding heart (palpitations)
  • Stomach discomfort or pain
  • High blood pressure
  • Sleep problems, depression, worry, restlessness, nervousness, overexcitement, or irritability (more likely in children)
  • Blurred vision

Important Warnings

  • Do not use this medicine for sudden asthma attacks. For quick relief, use a separate reliever inhaler.
  • Before starting treatment, tell your doctor if you have or have had tuberculosis (TB), or a fungal, viral, or bacterial infection.
  • Contact your doctor immediately if your breathing gets worse, your asthma symptoms (like cough, shortness of breath, wheezing) get worse, you wake up at night due to symptoms, or your reliever inhaler doesn't help.
  • Contact your doctor if you experience blurred vision or other vision problems.
  • Stop using this medicine and contact your doctor immediately if you have severe allergic reactions (e.g., swelling of lips, tongue, throat), allergic reactions (rashes, redness, itching, hives), or if your cough or wheezing gets worse right after using the inhaler.
