Ciclesonide Orifarm is an inhaled corticosteroid used daily to treat chronic asthma in adults and adolescents (12 years and older) by reducing symptoms and preventing asthma attacks.

How to Use

Dosage

The usual dose is 160 micrograms once a day. Some may use 80 micrograms once a day. In severe cases, up to 640 micrograms per day, split into two 320 microgram doses, may be used for a short period.

Method

Inhale the spray through your mouth into your lungs, usually once a day in the morning or evening. Do not shake the inhaler before use.

The maximum daily dose is 640 micrograms, taken as two 320 microgram doses.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Hoarseness
  • Burning, inflammation, or irritation in the mouth or throat
  • Fungal infection in the mouth (oral thrush)
  • Headache
  • Changed sense of taste
  • Dry mouth or throat
  • Nausea or vomiting
RARE
  • Palpitations (fast or irregular heartbeat)
  • Abdominal discomfort or pain
  • High blood pressure

Important Warnings

  • This medicine is not for sudden breathing problems. Use a separate rescue inhaler for those.
  • Do not use if you are allergic to ciclesonide or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Tell your doctor if you have ever had or currently have tuberculosis (TBC) or a fungal, viral, or bacterial infection in your lungs.
  • Contact your doctor immediately if your breathing worsens, you wake up at night due to symptoms, or your rescue inhaler does not help.
  • Contact your doctor if you experience blurred vision or other eye problems.

  • If your breathing becomes wheezy or you feel chest tightness after using this inhaler, do not take more puffs. Use your rescue inhaler and contact your doctor immediately.
  • Stop using this medicine and contact your doctor immediately if you have severe allergic reactions like swelling of lips, tongue, or throat, or worsening cough/wheezing after inhalation, or skin reactions (rashes, redness, itching, hives).
