How to Use

Dosage

Adults and children over 12 years: one 10 mg tablet once daily. Children aged 6-12 years: half a 10 mg tablet (5 mg) twice daily. Patients with moderate kidney problems should take 5 mg once daily; consult your doctor for severe kidney problems.

Method

Swallow the tablet(s) whole with a glass of water. The tablet can be divided into two equal halves.

Important

The maximum daily dose is 10 mg for adults and children over 6 years old.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Feeling tired
  • Dry mouth, feeling sick (nausea), diarrhea
  • Dizziness, headache
  • Drowsiness
  • Sore throat (pharyngitis), runny nose (rhinitis)
RARE
  • Agitation
  • Stomach ache
  • Extreme tiredness, general feeling of being unwell
  • Numbness or tingling sensation (paresthesia)
  • Itching, skin rash
  • Fast heartbeat (tachycardia)
  • Swelling (oedema)
  • Liver problems
  • Weight gain
  • Fits (convulsions)
  • Aggression, confusion, feeling down (depression), seeing or hearing things that aren't there (hallucinations), difficulty sleeping (insomnia)
  • Hives (urticaria)
  • Low number of blood platelets (thrombocytopenia), which can lead to easier bleeding or bruising
  • Difficulty focusing eyes, blurred vision, uncontrolled circular eye movements (oculogyric crisis)
  • Fainting, shaking (tremors), altered taste, uncontrolled movements, long-lasting abnormal muscle contractions
  • Tics (repeated, involuntary muscle jerks)
  • Difficulty passing urine
  • Drug rash
  • Memory loss, memory problems
  • Increased appetite
  • Vertigo (feeling like spinning or moving)
  • Inability to completely empty the bladder (urinary retention)
  • Nightmares
  • Liver inflammation (hepatitis)
  • Joint pain
  • Rash with pus-filled blisters
  • Severe itching and/or hives that return when you stop using the medicine
  • Thoughts of harming yourself (suicidal thoughts)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you have very bad kidney disease.
  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to cetirizine, hydroxyzine, piperazine derivatives (related substances), or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have trouble urinating (e.g., due to spinal cord problems, prostate issues, or bladder problems).
  • Talk to your doctor if you have epilepsy or are at risk of seizures.
  • If you are having an allergy test, tell your doctor; you may need to stop taking this medicine several days before the test, as it can affect the results.

  • If you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
  • This medicine contains lactose. If your doctor has told you that you cannot tolerate some sugars, talk to your doctor before taking it.
