How to Use

Dosage

Adults and teens over 12: Take one 10 mg tablet once a day. Children 6-12: Take half a 10 mg tablet (5 mg) twice a day. If you have kidney problems, your doctor might tell you to take less.

Method

Swallow the tablet with water. You can break the tablet in half if needed.

Important

Do not take more than 10 mg (1 tablet) in a single day.

  • Sore throat, runny or blocked nose (in children)
  • Diarrhea, feeling sick to your stomach, dry mouth
  • Feeling tired

  • Feeling restless
  • Tingling or numb feeling
  • Belly pain
  • Itching, rash
  • Extreme tiredness, feeling unwell
  • Allergic reactions (some can be severe)
  • Feeling down, seeing or hearing things that aren't there, being aggressive, confusion, trouble sleeping
  • Seizures
  • Fast heartbeat
  • Liver problems
  • Hives
  • Swelling
  • Weight gain
  • Low number of blood platelets (can cause bleeding/bruising)
  • Tics (sudden, uncontrollable movements)
  • Fainting, uncontrolled muscle movements, shaking, changes in taste
  • Blurry vision, trouble focusing eyes, uncontrolled eye rolling
  • Severe allergic reaction with swelling of face or throat (angioedema), skin rash from medicine
  • Problems peeing (bedwetting, pain, or difficulty peeing)
  • Increased hunger
  • Thoughts of harming yourself, bad dreams
  • Memory loss, poor memory
  • Spinning sensation (vertigo)
  • Unable to fully empty bladder
  • Severe itching and/or hives when stopping the medicine
  • Joint pain, muscle pain
  • Skin rash with pus-filled blisters
  • Liver inflammation (hepatitis)

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you have severe kidney disease and need dialysis.
  • Do not use if you are allergic to cetirizine or any other ingredients in this medicine, or to hydroxyzine or piperazine derivatives (similar medicines).
  • Tell your doctor if you have kidney problems, as your dose might need to be changed.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have trouble urinating (peeing).
  • If you have epilepsy or tend to have seizures, talk to your doctor.

  • Do not drink alcohol while taking this medicine, as it can make you more sleepy.
  • If you are having an allergy test, tell your doctor, as you may need to stop taking this medicine a few days before.
  • Do not give this medicine to children under 6 years old.
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, talk to your doctor before using this medicine.
  • Be careful when driving or using machines, especially if you feel sleepy or dizzy.
  • If your doctor has told you that you cannot tolerate certain sugars (like lactose), talk to your doctor before taking this medicine.
