How to Use

Dosage

Start with 200 mg once daily, which may be increased to 400 mg once daily after 2-4 weeks if needed, as determined by your doctor.

Method

Take the tablet with a glass of water, at least 30 minutes before a meal or 2 hours after a meal; do not take it with food as it reduces effectiveness. Tablets can be divided into equal doses.

Important

The maximum daily dose is 400 mg.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Tiredness, dizziness, drowsiness
  • Headache, confusion, nervousness
  • Sweating
  • Insomnia, nightmares
  • Depression, psychosis or hallucinations
  • Numbness and coldness in limbs (hands and feet)
  • Nausea, vomiting, constipation, diarrhea
  • Low blood pressure, slow heart rate, sudden loss of consciousness (fainting), palpitations, heart conduction problems, heart failure
  • Allergic skin reactions (redness, itching, rash) and hair loss
RARE
  • Low platelet count or small bleeds on skin/mucous membranes
  • Muscle weakness or cramps
  • Dry eyes (especially with contact lenses), eye inflammation (conjunctivitis), dry mouth
  • Airway narrowing (bronchospasm), asthma-related breathing problems, inflammatory lung disease
  • Onset or worsening of diabetes
  • Worsening of muscle weakness (myasthenia gravis)
  • Corneal and conjunctival inflammation, vision problems
  • Hearing loss, ringing in the ears (tinnitus)
  • Increased frequency of chest pain attacks in angina patients
  • Poor circulation in limbs (e.g., Raynaud's syndrome)
  • Psoriasis appearing or worsening, or psoriasis-like skin reactions
  • Long-term joint disease (inflammation of one or more joints)
  • Worsening of kidney function in severe kidney failure
  • Decreased libido and potency
  • Abnormal liver enzyme levels in blood
  • Low or high blood sugar
  • Tremor, hot flashes
  • Dryness of the outer eye (xerophthalmia)
  • Heart failure, changes in heart rhythm
  • Sinus arrest (heart stops beating or beats very slowly), especially in elderly or those with heart conditions
  • Stomach pain
  • Reversible lupus-like syndrome
  • Impotence
  • Antinuclear antibodies

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to celiprolol hydrochloride, other beta-blockers, or any of its ingredients.
  • Do not take if you have severe heart failure, a very slow heartbeat (under 50 beats/min), very low blood pressure, or severe heart rhythm problems.
  • Do not take if you have severe lung diseases like COPD, acute asthma attacks, or sudden airway narrowing (bronchospasm).
  • Do not take if you have an untreated adrenal gland tumor (pheochromocytoma), severe kidney or liver problems, or if your blood is too acidic (metabolic acidosis).
  • Do not take this medicine if you are currently using certain MAO inhibitor antidepressants (except MAO-B inhibitors).

  • Always talk to your doctor before stopping this medicine; do not stop abruptly, as the dose needs to be reduced gradually over 1-2 weeks.
  • Tell your doctor or anesthesiologist if you are having surgery, as this medicine may affect anesthesia.
  • This medicine may cause dizziness or tiredness. Do not drive or operate machines if you feel dizzy or tired.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category A

Suitable for older adults. Reduce the dose in severe renal impairment. Do not use in end-stage renal impairment. Significant adverse effects include bradycardia and orthostatic hypotension. Consider potential interactions especially with with drugs affecting the conduction system of the heart. Avoid grapefruit. (updated 20.1.2025)
