How to Use

Dosage

The usual dose is 200 mg per day. Your doctor may increase it up to 400 mg per day. You can take one 200 mg capsule once daily or two 100 mg capsules twice daily.

Method

Swallow the capsule whole with water. You can take it with or without food, but try to take it at the same time each day.

Important

The maximum daily dose is 400 mg.

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to celecoxib or sulfonamides (like some antibiotics).
  • Do not take this medicine if you have stomach or intestinal ulcers or bleeding.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have had asthma or a severe allergic reaction (e.g., rash, face swelling, breathing difficulty) after taking aspirin or other pain relievers.
  • Do not use if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or trying to get pregnant without effective contraception.
  • Do not use if you have severe liver or kidney problems.

  • Do not use if you have severe heart failure or heart/brain blood vessel disease (e.g., heart attack, stroke).

  • Talk to your doctor if you have an infection, as this medicine can hide fever.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. For short-term use only. Consider adverse renal effect in chronic kidney disease. Do not use in severe renal impairment. May increase swelling. Worsens renal and cardiac failure and causes cardiovascular events. Risk of gastrointestinal bleeding less than with traditional NSAIDs.
