How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will decide your dose. For adults and children over 12 weighing 50 kg or more, it's usually 1-2 g once daily. For children under 50 kg (15 days - 12 years), the dose is 50-80 mg/kg once daily, and for newborns (0-14 days), 20-50 mg/kg once daily.

Method

A doctor or nurse usually gives this medicine as a drip into a vein (infusion) or as an injection into a vein or muscle. It must not be mixed with solutions containing calcium.

Important

The maximum daily dose for adults and children over 12 years is 4 g. For newborn babies (0-14 days), the maximum dose is 50 mg/kg of body weight.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Changes in white blood cell and platelet counts (fewer white blood cells, more eosinophils, fewer platelets).
  • Loose stools or diarrhea.
  • Changes in liver function blood tests.
  • Rash.
RARE
  • Fungal infections (e.g., thrush).
  • Headache, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, or itching.
  • Pain, burning, or swelling at the injection site, or fever and chills.
  • Severe allergic reactions, such as swelling of the face or throat (difficulty breathing), chest pain, shortness of breath, or fainting.
  • Severe skin reactions, such as blisters, peeling skin, or widespread rashes.
  • Gut inflammation (colitis) with symptoms like stomach pain and diarrhea that may contain blood or mucus.
  • Gallbladder or liver problems, which may cause pain, yellow skin or eyes (jaundice), or dark urine.
  • Kidney stones or kidney problems, such as pain during urination or less urine.
  • Seizures, spinning sensation (vertigo), or reduced consciousness.
  • Anemia (reduced red blood cells), easy bruising, or changes in blood sugar.
  • A rare neurological condition in newborns with severe jaundice.
  • Pancreatitis, inflammation of the mouth or tongue.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to ceftriaxone, penicillin, or similar antibiotics (cephalosporins, carbapenems).
  • Calcium-containing products must not be given at the same time as Ceftriaxon Navamedic, especially in babies.
  • Tell your doctor if you have or have had severe skin reactions (rash, blisters, fever) or diarrhea after antibiotic treatment.
  • Tell your doctor if you have kidney or liver disease, gallstones or kidney stones, or anemia.
  • This medicine may cause dizziness, so avoid driving or operating machinery if you feel dizzy.
