How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will determine the right dose for you, typically between 5 and 20 micrograms.

Method

Inject the medicine into the side of your penis using a special syringe.

Important

Do not use more than once a day or three times a week, and never more than 40 micrograms in total.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Pain in the penis.
  • Bruising, scarring, or bending of the penis, especially with long-term use. Talk to your doctor if this happens.
  • Prolonged erection (lasting longer than usual but less than 4 hours).
  • Other problems related to the penis.
  • Swelling, discoloration, or bruising at the injection site.
  • Muscle cramps.
RARE
  • Irritation, inflammation, swelling, itching, bleeding, numbness, warmth, tenderness, or pain at the injection site.
  • Redness, swelling, or tenderness of the testicles or scrotum; collection of sperm (spermatocele); numbness in the penis.
  • Uncomfortable, painful, or very prolonged erection; no erection; changes in ejaculation; tight or swollen foreskin; glans penis problems.
  • Urgent or frequent need to urinate; painful or difficult urination; small amounts of blood in urine or from the tip of the penis.
  • Pelvic pain, weakness, sweating, nausea, swollen legs or arms, cold-like symptoms, dry mouth, yeast infection.
  • Changes in blood pressure or heart rhythm; dizziness; shallow breathing; fainting.
  • Skin itching, redness at the injection site, rash or skin growths, increased sweating, light sensitivity, enlarged pupils, altered sensation, leg cramps, cold hands or feet, vein problems, or bleeding from veins.
  • Increased creatinine levels in blood tests.
  • Reduced blood flow to the heart muscle (coronary artery disease), stroke.

Important Warnings

  • If you have an erection lasting more than 4 hours, seek medical help immediately.
  • Do not use this medicine if you have sickle cell anemia, blood cancer, bone marrow cancer, or other conditions that increase the risk of an erection lasting more than 6 hours.
  • Do not use if you have a penile implant, scar tissue in the penis, a curved penis, or Peyronie's disease.
  • Do not use if you have a severe heart condition that means you should avoid sexual activity.
