How to Use
Dosage
Your doctor will determine your daily dose.
Method
It is given as a slow infusion into a vein over about one hour, once a day.
Important
The maximum daily dose for adults and children is determined by your doctor; for children, it typically does not exceed 70 mg based on body surface area.
Possible Side Effects
COMMON
- •Fever, chills
- •Headache
- •Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea
- •Rash, itching, skin redness, excessive sweating
- •Pain or irritation at the injection site, vein inflammation
- •Changes in some blood tests, such as low red or white blood cells, low potassium, or low albumin
- •Shortness of breath
RARE
- •Changes in other blood tests, including blood sugar, calcium, magnesium levels, or blood clotting
- •Confusion, nervousness, trouble sleeping, dizziness, blurred vision, tingling or numbness, tremor, drowsiness, altered taste
- •Increased tearing, eyelid swelling, yellowing of the whites of the eyes
- •Heart problems, such as fast or irregular heartbeat, or heart failure
- •Changes in blood pressure (high or low), hot flashes
- •Breathing difficulties, cough, wheezing, nasal congestion, sore throat
- •Stomach and bowel problems, such as abdominal pain, bloating, constipation, difficulty swallowing, dry mouth, indigestion, flatulence
- •Liver problems, such as enlarged liver, yellowing of the skin or eyes, or liver damage
- •Skin changes, such as hives, different types of rashes, peeling skin, or lesions
- •Muscle, bone, or back pain, muscle weakness
- •Kidney problems, including kidney failure
- •Swelling in the face, ankles, hands, or feet, fluid retention
- •General discomfort, feeling tired, chest pain, or feeling of altered body temperature
- •Increased levels of immunosuppressive medicines you are taking
Important Warnings
- Do not use Caspofungin Demo S.A. if you are allergic to caspofungin or any other ingredient in this medicine.
- This medicine can cause severe skin reactions, such as widespread rash, peeling skin, or sores in the mouth. Seek immediate medical help if you experience these.
- Seek immediate medical help if you experience a rash, itching, feeling hot, swelling of the face, lips, or throat, or trouble breathing, as these could be signs of a serious allergic reaction.
- Tell your doctor if you have had liver problems, as your dose may need to be adjusted.
- Inform your doctor if you are taking cyclosporine, as you might need more blood tests during treatment.
