How to Use
Dosage
Your doctor will determine the exact dose for you, typically 50 mg once a day. Doses may be adjusted if you weigh over 80 kg or have liver problems.
Method
This medicine is given as a slow infusion into a vein (intravenous infusion) over about one hour.

- •Low white blood cells
- •Headache
- •Vein inflammation
- •Feeling short of breath
- •Diarrhea, upset stomach, or vomiting

- •Itching, skin rash, or redness

- •Chills and fever
- •Pain or itching at the injection site
RARE
- •Changes in other blood tests (like for clotting or other blood cells)
- •Loss of appetite, swelling (fluid buildup), problems with body salts (electrolytes), high blood sugar
- •Feeling confused, nervous, or having trouble sleeping
- •Dizziness, numbness, tingling, or shaking
- •Blurred vision, swollen eyelids, or yellowing of the eyes
- •Fast or irregular heartbeats
- •High or low blood pressure, flushing (red face)
- •Cough, difficult breathing, stuffy nose, or sore throat
- •Stomach pain, constipation, or dry mouth
- •Yellowing of skin or eyes (jaundice), or liver problems
- •Back or muscle pain
- •Kidney problems
- •Swelling in the face, hands, or feet
- •Chest discomfort or pain, feeling generally unwell, or tiredness
Important Warnings
- Do not use if you are allergic to caspofungin or any other ingredients in this medicine.
- Tell your doctor if you have liver problems, as your dose may need to be changed.
- Tell your doctor if you are taking ciclosporin, as you may need extra blood tests.
- This medicine may cause severe skin reactions like Stevens-Johnson syndrome; seek urgent medical help if you develop a severe rash or skin peeling.
- If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, discuss with your doctor. This medicine should not be used during pregnancy unless the benefit clearly outweighs the risk. Do not breastfeed while taking this medicine.
