How to Use

Dosage

Take one tablet once a day.

Method

Swallow the tablet whole with liquid. Try to take it at about the same time each day. Do not stop taking the medicine unless your doctor tells you to.

Important

Do not take more than one tablet per day.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Dizziness
  • Hot flashes
  • Stomach pain, constipation, nausea
  • Breast tenderness or enlargement
  • Weakness, swelling
  • Anemia (low red blood cells)
  • Decreased appetite
  • Decreased sex drive and ability, depression
  • Drowsiness
  • Digestion problems after eating, gas
  • Changes in liver blood tests, yellow skin or eyes (jaundice)
  • Hair loss or increased hair growth, dry skin, itching, rash
  • Inability to get or keep an erection (impotence)
  • Weight gain
  • Chest pain
  • Heart failure
  • Heart attack
RARE
  • Severe allergic reactions: swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat, hives
  • Lung inflammation (interstitial pneumonitis), severe breathing problems, cough, fever
  • Liver failure
  • Increased skin sensitivity to sunlight
  • Changes in heart's electrical activity (QT prolongation on ECG)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to bicalutamide or any other ingredients.
  • Do not take this medicine if you are a woman or a child.
  • Do not take this medicine if you are taking certain allergy medicines (terfenadine, astemizole) or a medicine for digestive problems (cisapride).
  • Tell your doctor if you have heart problems (like an irregular heartbeat), liver disease, or diabetes.
  • Tell your doctor if you are taking other medicines, especially blood thinners.

  • Men taking Casodex and/or their partners must use birth control during treatment and for 130 days after stopping it.
  • Seek immediate medical help if you experience severe breathing problems (with cough or fever), severe itching with blisters, or swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat which makes it hard to swallow.
  • Seek immediate medical help if you experience blood in your urine, severe stomach pain, or yellowing of your skin or eyes.
