How to Use

Dosage

The usual dose is one tablet once a day.

Method

Swallow the tablet whole with water. Try to take it at the same time each day, and do not stop taking it unless your doctor tells you to.

Important

Do not take more than one tablet per day.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Rash
  • Breast tenderness, breast enlargement
  • Weakness, tiredness
  • Anemia (low red blood cells)
  • Decreased appetite
  • Decreased sex drive and ability, depression
  • Dizziness, drowsiness
  • Hot flashes
  • Stomach pain, constipation, indigestion, gas, nausea
  • Changes in liver tests, yellow skin or eyes (jaundice)
  • Hair loss or growth, dry skin, itching
  • Blood in urine
  • Impotence
  • Chest pain, swelling
  • Weight gain
RARE
  • Severe allergic reactions (swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat, hives), lung inflammation
  • Liver failure
  • Increased skin sensitivity to sunlight
  • Changes in heart rhythm (seen on ECG)

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to bicalutamide or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • This medicine is not for women or children.
  • Do not take if you are using certain allergy medications (terfenadine or astemizole) or cisapride for digestive problems.
  • Tell your doctor if you have a heart condition, especially an irregular heartbeat, as Casodex can increase this risk.
  • Inform your doctor if you have liver disease.

  • Tell your doctor if you are taking other medications, especially blood thinners.
  • If you are taking Casodex, you and/or your partner must use birth control during treatment and for 130 days after stopping treatment.
