How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will decide your dose; it often starts low (e.g., 12.5 mg once daily for two days) and increases gradually.

Method

Swallow tablets with at least half a glass of water. You can take them with or without food, but if you have heart failure, take them with food to reduce the risk of dizziness when standing up quickly.

Important

The maximum daily dose for adults is 100 mg.

  • Heart rhythm problems, chest pain (angina)
  • Skin reactions (like allergic rash, hives, itching, increased sweating, psoriasis-like changes)
  • Constipation
  • Impotence (problems with erections)
  • Low platelet count (affects blood clotting)
  • Stuffy nose
  • Dry mouth
  • Low white blood cell count (affects immunity)
  • Psychosis (severe mental health problem)
  • Allergic reactions
  • Abnormal liver function test results
  • Involuntary urination in women
  • Hair loss
  • Sinus arrest (temporary stop of heartbeat signal)

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to carvedilol or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not use if you have untreated heart failure, certain severe heart rhythm problems (unless you have a pacemaker), or very weak heart function (cardiogenic shock).
  • Do not use if you have severe liver disease.
  • Do not use if your pulse is very slow (under 50 beats per minute) or your blood pressure is very low.
  • Do not use if you have asthma or other severe breathing conditions that cause sudden airway narrowing (like COPD or acute pulmonary embolism).

  • Do not use if you are breastfeeding.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have diabetes, an overactive thyroid, or Raynaud's phenomenon, as this medicine can hide or worsen symptoms.
  • Tell your doctor about all other medicines you are taking, especially for depression, irregular heartbeat, or high blood pressure, as they can affect how Carveratio works.
  • Seek immediate medical help if you experience chest pain along with shortness of breath, sweating, and nausea.
  • Seek immediate medical help if you experience severe skin reactions such as rash, redness, blisters around lips/eyes/mouth, peeling skin, or severe skin detachment.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category A

Suitable for older adults. Significant adverse effects include bradycardia and orthostatic hypotension. Consider potential interactions, especially with drugs affecting the conduction system of the heart. (updated 20.1.2025)
