How to Use

Dosage

For the first two days, take one 12.5 mg tablet once a day. After that, take two 12.5 mg tablets (total 25 mg) once a day.

Method

Swallow the tablet with at least half a glass of water. You can take it with or without food, but if you have heart failure, take it with food to avoid dizziness.

Important

The maximum daily dose is usually 100 mg.

  • Weight gain
  • Increased cholesterol
  • Worsening diabetes control
  • Vision problems or dry eyes
  • Pain in arms or legs
  • Kidney problems or problems peeing
  • Feeling sad or down (depression)
  • Circulation problems (cold hands/feet, leg pain when walking, worsening Raynaud's)
  • Urinary tract infections
  • Low red blood cell count
RARE
  • Trouble sleeping, feeling confused, nightmares, or seeing/hearing things that aren't there (hallucinations/psychosis)
  • Unusual feelings in the body
  • Skin problems (rashes, itching, sweating, psoriasis-like changes, severe skin reactions)
  • Constipation
  • Erection problems (impotence)
  • Low number of blood cells (white blood cells, platelets)
  • Stuffy nose or dry mouth
  • Allergic reactions
  • Changes in liver tests
  • Hair loss
  • Involuntary peeing in women
  • Worsening of hidden diabetes
  • Other heart rhythm problems

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to carvedilol or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not use if you have untreated or very severe heart failure, or certain severe heart rhythm problems.
  • Do not use if you have severe liver problems.
  • Do not use if your heartbeat is very slow (under 50 beats per minute) or your blood pressure is very low.
  • Do not use if you have asthma or other severe breathing conditions that cause sudden airway narrowing.

  • Talk to your doctor if you have diabetes, as this medicine can hide signs of low blood sugar.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category A

Suitable for older adults. Significant adverse effects include bradycardia and orthostatic hypotension. Consider potential interactions, especially with drugs affecting the conduction system of the heart. (updated 20.1.2025)
