How to Use

Dosage

Typically, you start with 12.5 mg once daily for two days, then continue with 25 mg once daily, or as directed by your doctor.

Method

Swallow the tablets whole with enough water. Do not chew them. You can take them with or without food.

Important

The maximum daily dose is 100 mg, usually divided into two doses.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Dizziness, headache
  • Worsening heart failure (shortness of breath, swollen ankles)
  • Low blood pressure
  • Fatigue
  • Bronchitis, respiratory infections, urinary tract infections
  • Weight gain, changes in blood sugar (for diabetics), anemia
  • Depression
  • Vision problems, dry eyes, eye irritation
  • Slow heart rate, fluid retention, low blood pressure when standing up
  • Cold fingers or feet, Raynaud's syndrome
  • Shortness of breath, worsening asthma
  • Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, heartburn, stomach pain
RARE
  • Sleep problems
  • Fainting or feeling faint, tingling in limbs
  • Chest pain
  • Allergic skin reactions like rash, hives, itching
  • Hair loss
  • Erectile dysfunction
  • Reduced blood platelets (may cause bruising or nosebleeds)
  • Stuffy nose
  • Reduced white blood cells (may cause infection symptoms, unexplained fever, sore throat)
  • Increased liver enzyme values
  • Urinary incontinence in women
  • Severe blistering skin conditions

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to carvedilol or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Do not take if you have severe heart failure that needs intravenous medication.
  • Do not take if you have a history of breathing difficulties, wheezing, or asthma.
  • Do not take if you have a severe liver disease that requires medical attention.
  • Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly, especially if you have coronary artery disease, as it can worsen your condition.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category A

Suitable for older adults. Significant adverse effects include bradycardia and orthostatic hypotension. Consider potential interactions, especially with drugs affecting the conduction system of the heart. (updated 20.1.2025)
