How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will tell you the exact dose you need, which can vary depending on your condition and age.

Method

Swallow the tablets whole with enough water. Do not chew them. You can take them with or without food.

Important

The maximum daily dose depends on your condition; always follow your doctor's instructions. For high blood pressure, it's typically 50 mg. For angina or heart failure, it can be up to 100 mg, divided into two doses.

  • Dizziness, headache
  • Worsening heart failure (shortness of breath, swollen ankles)
  • Low blood pressure
  • Tiredness
  • Bronchitis, lung inflammation, respiratory and urinary tract infections
  • Weight gain, high cholesterol, blood sugar changes (for diabetics), anemia (low red blood cell count)
  • Depression, low mood
  • Vision problems, dry eyes, eye irritation
  • Slow heart rate, swelling due to fluid retention, low blood pressure when standing up (orthostatic hypotension)
  • Poor circulation in hands/feet (cold hands/feet, painful walking), Raynaud's syndrome (fingers/toes change color)
  • Shortness of breath, lung swelling, worsening asthma
  • Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, heartburn, stomach pain
  • Limb pain, general pain
  • Kidney problems, kidney failure, problems with urination
RARE
  • Sleep problems
  • Fainting, tingling or numbness in arms/legs, chest pain
  • Allergic skin reactions (rash, hives, itching), psoriasis-like skin reactions
  • Hair loss
  • Erectile dysfunction
  • Low platelet count (may cause bruising or nosebleeds)
  • Stuffy nose
  • Low white blood cell count (can lead to infections, fever, sore throat)
  • Severe allergic reactions
  • Increased liver enzymes
  • Urinary incontinence in women
  • Severe skin disease with blisters (e.g., Stevens-Johnson syndrome)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to carvedilol or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Do not take if you have severe heart failure that needs IV medication.
  • Do not take if you have severe breathing problems, asthma, or severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
  • Do not take if you have severe liver disease that requires medical attention.
  • Do not take if your heart beats very slowly (below 50 beats per minute).

  • Do not take if you have very low blood pressure (systolic pressure below 85 mmHg) or cardiogenic shock.
  • Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly, especially if you have coronary artery disease. Your doctor will tell you how to stop it slowly.
  • This medicine is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Talk to your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to be, or breastfeeding.
  • This medicine can cause dizziness, fainting, headaches, or tiredness, especially at the start of treatment or after a dose increase. Do not drive or operate machinery if you experience these effects.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category A

Suitable for older adults. Significant adverse effects include bradycardia and orthostatic hypotension. Consider potential interactions, especially with drugs affecting the conduction system of the heart. (updated 20.1.2025)
