Carvedilol Orion is a beta-blocker medicine that helps relax and widen blood vessels, making it easier for the heart to pump blood, which lowers blood pressure and reduces strain on the heart.
Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor tells you. The starting dose is usually 12.5 mg once a day for high blood pressure, or 3.125 mg twice a day for heart failure. Your doctor will adjust your dose over time.
Swallow the tablets whole with water. If you are taking it for heart failure, take it with food to help reduce side effects.
The highest daily dose your doctor prescribes will depend on your condition, typically up to 50 mg, but can be up to 100 mg for certain heart problems.
Suitable for older adults. Significant adverse effects include bradycardia and orthostatic hypotension. Consider potential interactions, especially with drugs affecting the conduction system of the heart. (updated 20.1.2025)
