How to Use

Dosage

Typically, for adults, start with one 12.5 mg tablet once daily for two days, then continue with one 25 mg tablet once daily. Your doctor may adjust the dose.

Method

Swallow the tablets whole with a glass of water during a meal. Do not chew them.

Important

The maximum daily dose is usually two 25 mg tablets per day for high blood pressure, but it can vary depending on your condition and weight, as decided by your doctor.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Dizziness or headache
  • Feeling very tired or weak
  • Worsening heart failure, which can cause shortness of breath or swollen ankles
  • Low blood pressure, or feeling dizzy/fainting when standing up quickly
  • Slow heart rate
  • Bronchitis or other respiratory infections, fluid in the lungs, or worsening asthma symptoms
  • Urinary tract infections or problems with urination
  • Weight gain or increased cholesterol levels
  • Changes in blood sugar levels (for diabetics)
  • Depression or feeling sad
  • Vision problems, dry or irritated eyes
  • Fluid retention, causing swelling in the body
  • Poor circulation in hands and feet, making them cold, painful, numb, or change color (white, blue, then red)
  • Feeling sick (nausea or vomiting), diarrhea, heartburn, stomach pain, constipation
  • Pain in your arms or legs, or general body aches
  • Kidney problems or changes in kidney function, reduced red blood cells
  • Fainting or high blood pressure
RARE
  • Trouble sleeping, nightmares, seeing or hearing things that aren't there (hallucinations), confusion, or other mental health problems
  • Unusual skin feelings like tingling, prickling, or itching
  • Chest pain due to narrow blood vessels or heart rhythm disturbances
  • Skin reactions like allergic rashes, hives, or psoriasis-like reactions; severe blistering skin conditions (e.g., Stevens-Johnson syndrome)
  • Erectile dysfunction
  • Dry mouth or stuffy nose
  • Easy bruising or nosebleeds (due to low platelet count)
  • Symptoms of infection, unexplained fever, or sore throat (due to low white blood cell count)
  • Severe allergic reactions, including sudden swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, making it hard to breathe or swallow
  • Liver problems (shown by changes in liver enzyme levels)
  • Urinary incontinence in women
  • Hair loss or excessive sweating

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to carvedilol or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not take if you have severe heart failure requiring IV medication, cardiogenic shock, or a very slow heart rate (below 50 beats per minute).
  • Do not take if you have a history of narrowed airways or asthma.
  • Do not stop taking Carvedilol Hexal suddenly without consulting your doctor, as this may worsen your condition.
  • Avoid alcohol and grapefruit products (juice or fruit) while taking this medicine, as they can increase side effects.

  • This medicine may cause dizziness or fainting, especially at the start of treatment or after a dose increase. Do not drive or operate machinery if you experience these effects.
  • Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless your doctor considers it absolutely necessary.

Category A
