How to Use

Dosage

Adults and teenagers 12 years and older should take two tablets once a day, with or without food. Children 6 to 11 years old should take one tablet once a day, with or without food.

Method

To take, gently peel back the foil on the blister pack and remove the tablet without pushing it through. Place the tablet in your mouth; it dissolves instantly. You do not need water. Take the tablet right after opening the pack.

Important

The maximum daily dose is two tablets (5 mg desloratadine) for adults and teenagers 12 years and older, and one tablet (2.5 mg desloratadine) for children 6 to 11 years old.

Important Warnings

  • Do not take Caredin if you are allergic to desloratadine, loratadine, or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have kidney problems.
  • Talk to your doctor if you or anyone in your family has had seizures.
  • Do not give this medicine to children under 6 years old.
  • Caredin is not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women.

  • This medicine contains aspartame, which may be harmful to people with phenylketonuria (PKU).

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Reduce the dose in severe renal impairment. Concurrent use with clopidogrel can increase loratadine and desloratadine level. (updated 19.9.2025)
