How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will decide your dose, starting low and increasing it gradually, typically from 1.25 mg to 10 mg daily depending on your condition.

Method

Take the tablet whole with water in the morning, with or without food. Do not crush or chew it.

Important

The maximum daily dose is 20 mg. For heart failure or severe kidney/liver issues, the maximum is 10 mg.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Feeling weak, especially in patients with chronic heart failure.
  • Tiredness, dizziness, headache.
  • Feeling cold or numb in hands and feet.
  • Low blood pressure.
  • Stomach problems like nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or constipation.
RARE
  • Sleep disturbances.
  • Depression.
  • Dizziness when standing up (orthostatic hypotension).
  • Breathing difficulties, especially in patients with asthma or chronic lung disease.
  • Muscle weakness, muscle cramps.
  • Hearing problems.
  • Allergic rhinitis (runny nose due to allergy).
  • Reduced tear flow.
  • Liver inflammation (hepatitis), which can cause yellowing of the skin or eyes.
  • Abnormal blood test results for liver function or fat levels.
  • Allergy-like skin reactions such as itching, redness, or rash. Seek immediate medical attention for severe allergic reactions.
  • Erectile dysfunction.
  • Nightmares, hallucinations.
  • Fainting.
  • Eye irritation and redness (conjunctivitis).
  • Hair loss (alopecia).
  • Appearance or worsening of a scaly skin rash (psoriasis) or psoriasis-like rash.

Important Warnings

  • If you are allergic to bisoprolol or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • If you have severe asthma.
  • If you have severe circulation problems in your limbs (e.g., Raynaud's disease), which can cause tingling or turn your fingers and toes pale or blue.
  • If you have an untreated adrenal gland tumor (phaeochromocytoma).
  • If you have too much acid in your body (metabolic acidosis).

  • If you have acute heart failure or worsening heart failure that requires intravenous medication to increase heart muscle strength.
  • If you have a very slow heart rate, very low blood pressure, or certain heart conditions causing a very slow or irregular heartbeat.
  • If you have an acute, severe heart condition leading to very low blood pressure and circulatory collapse (cardiogenic shock).
  • Never stop taking Cardovia without talking to your doctor first, as your condition could worsen significantly.
