How to Use

Dosage

The usual starting dose is 10 mg once a day, typically increasing to 20 mg once a day for long-term treatment.

Method

Swallow the tablet whole with water once a day, preferably at the same time each day, with or without food.

Important

The maximum daily dose is usually 80 mg, but your doctor will tell you your specific maximum.

  • Swelling of the face, limbs, lips, tongue, or throat (angioedema)

  • Dry mouth
  • Hair loss
  • Breast enlargement in men
  • Anemia (low red blood cells), causing pale skin or shortness of breath
  • Liver inflammation
  • Yellowing of skin or eyes (jaundice)
  • Pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas)

Important Warnings

  • Stop taking this medicine and tell your doctor immediately if you experience itching or severe skin reactions.
  • Stop taking this medicine and tell your doctor immediately if you have wheezing or difficulty breathing or swallowing.
  • Stop taking this medicine and tell your doctor immediately if your hands, feet, ankles, face, lips, tongue, or throat swell.
  • Stop taking this medicine and tell your doctor immediately if your skin or the whites of your eyes turn yellow.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Reduce the dose in moderately severe renal impairment. Monitor renal function and potassium concentrations during the pharmacotherapy. Avoid concurrent use of NSAIDs. (updated 14.4.2025)
