How to Use

Dosage

Adults: 2-10 tablets 3-4 times daily for diarrhea and flatulence. Children (flatulence): 1-5 tablets 3-4 times daily. Children over 12 (diarrhea): 1-5 tablets 3-4 times daily.

Method

Tablets should be swallowed whole with liquid.

Important

For acute poisoning, the recommended dose for adults is 200 tablets as a single dose; this dose should not be exceeded.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Temporary constipation, which can be treated with laxatives if needed.
  • Charcoal turns stools black, but this is harmless.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to activated charcoal or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Do not use if you have bleeding, perforation, or narrowing in your stomach or intestines, suspected bowel obstruction, or ulcerative colitis.
  • Do not use for poisonings caused by corrosive substances (like strong acids/bases), alcohols, petroleum products, fluoride, cyanide, or metals (like iron/lithium), as activated charcoal does not bind to these substances.
  • Do not take Carbo Medicinalis at the same time as other medicines, as activated charcoal can prevent other medicines from being absorbed.
  • Do not give activated charcoal to a drowsy or unconscious patient at home, as they may choke or inhale it into their lungs.

  • This medicine contains sugar (sucrose and lactose), which should be considered if you have diabetes.
  • If diarrhea symptoms last longer than 48 hours, contact a doctor to find out the cause.
