How to Use

Dosage

The recommended dose is one tablet daily.

Method

Take one tablet with or without food, preferably in the morning. Swallow the tablet whole with water. Do not crush or chew it. Try to take it at the same time each day.

Important

The maximum daily dose is one tablet.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Respiratory infection.
  • Changes in blood test results: high potassium levels in the blood, especially with kidney or heart disease. Severe cases may cause tiredness, weakness, irregular heartbeat, or tingling.
  • Dizziness or spinning sensation.
  • Headache.
  • Allergic reactions, mainly skin reactions, especially in people prone to allergies and asthma.
  • Red, raised rash.
RARE
  • Low sodium in the blood, which can lead to dehydration and low blood pressure.
  • Vomiting.
  • Impotence (difficulty getting or keeping an erection).
  • Low chloride and magnesium levels in the blood.
  • Feeling tired, tingling sensation (paresthesia).
  • Digestive problems (such as nausea, constipation), dry mouth.
  • Changes in blood cells, such as fewer platelets (easy bruising, nosebleeds), fewer white blood cells (unexplained fever, sore throat, flu-like symptoms – contact doctor if this occurs), and anemia (fewer red blood cells).
  • High calcium levels in the blood.
  • Irregular heartbeat (palpitations, awareness of heartbeats), low blood pressure.
  • Cough.
  • Abnormal liver function, increased liver enzyme levels which may show in tests.
  • Rash, itching.
  • Back, joint, and muscle pain.
  • Kidney disease (causing tiredness, increased need to urinate, itchy skin, nausea, swollen limbs).
  • Intestinal angioedema: swelling in the intestines with symptoms like stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.
  • Angioedema and/or hives (skin swelling in arms/legs or face, lips, tongue, throat, or airways, causing difficulty breathing or swallowing). Seek immediate medical attention.
  • Caninda may cause a decrease in white blood cells (agranulocytosis), weakening your immunity to infections, leading to tiredness, infection, or fever. Contact your doctor if this occurs; blood tests may be needed.
  • Severe skin reactions, including severe rash, widespread redness, intense itching, blisters, skin peeling, swelling, or inflammation of mucous membranes (Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis) or other allergic reactions.
  • Pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas), which can cause severe stomach and back pain with intense nausea.
  • Life-threatening irregular heart rhythm (Torsade de pointes).
  • Brain disease caused by liver disease (hepatic encephalopathy).
  • Liver inflammation (hepatitis).
  • Muscle weakness, cramps, tenderness, or pain, especially with nausea or fever, which can be due to abnormal muscle breakdown (rhabdomyolysis).
  • Fainting.
  • Blurred vision or eye pain due to high eye pressure (possible signs of fluid buildup in the choroid or acute angle-closure glaucoma).
  • Diarrhea.
  • Worsening of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) symptoms, if you have this connective tissue disease.
  • Photosensitivity reactions (changes in skin appearance) after exposure to sunlight or artificial UVA radiation.
  • Muscle cramps, muscle weakness.
  • Abnormal ECG readings.
  • Changes in blood values (laboratory tests): increased uric acid (may cause or worsen gout), increased blood sugar levels in diabetics.

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to candesartan, indapamide, similar medicines (sulfonamides), or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not take if you are more than 3 months pregnant (avoid use during early pregnancy).
  • Do not take if you have severe liver disease, bile duct obstruction, or a brain disease caused by liver problems (hepatic encephalopathy).
  • Not for children under 1 year of age.
  • Do not take if you have diabetes or kidney problems and are taking aliskiren for high blood pressure.

  • Do not take if you have low potassium levels in your blood.
  • This medicine can cause dizziness or tiredness, especially at the start of treatment or when the dose is increased. If these occur, avoid driving or operating machinery.
  • Inform your doctor or dentist if you are having surgery, as Caninda combined with some anesthetics can cause a significant drop in blood pressure.
  • Tell your doctor if you have had photosensitivity reactions.
  • Athletes should note that this medicine contains an active substance that may cause a positive result in doping tests.
  • If you experience stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea after taking Caninda, talk to your doctor. Do not stop taking the medicine on your own.
  • This medicine is not recommended for use in children and adolescents due to lack of safety and efficacy data.
  • Tell your doctor if you are taking other medicines for high blood pressure, especially ACE inhibitors (like enalapril) or aliskiren, particularly if you have diabetes-related kidney problems.
  • Seek immediate medical attention if you experience vision loss or eye pain. These could be symptoms of fluid buildup in the eye or increased eye pressure, potentially leading to permanent vision loss if untreated. The risk is higher if you have had penicillin or sulfonamide allergies.
  • Inform your doctor if you are taking an ACE inhibitor together with a mineralocorticoid receptor antagonist (MRA) for heart failure.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Reduce the dose already in mild renal impairment. Monitor renal function and potassium concentrations during the pharmacotherapy. Avoid concurrent use of NSAIDs. (updated 14.4.2025)
