How to Use

Dosage

One tablet once daily.

Method

Swallow the tablet whole with water. Try to take it at the same time each day. The tablet has a score line if you need to divide it to swallow more easily.

Important

Do not take more than one tablet per day.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Changes in blood test results (like sodium, potassium, cholesterol, sugar levels), causing weakness, muscle cramps, irregular heartbeat, tingling.
  • Dizziness or weakness.
  • Headache.
  • Respiratory infection.
RARE
  • Low blood pressure, causing weakness or dizziness.
  • Loss of appetite, diarrhea, constipation, stomach upset.
  • Rash, hives, skin sensitivity to sunlight.
  • Yellowing of skin or eyes (jaundice).
  • Kidney problems, especially if you have existing kidney or heart issues.
  • Trouble sleeping, depression, restlessness.
  • Tingling or numbness in hands or feet.
  • Temporary blurred vision.
  • Irregular heartbeat.
  • Breathing problems, including lung inflammation or fluid in the lungs.
  • Fever.
  • Pancreatitis (stomach pain).
  • Muscle cramps.
  • Damaged blood vessels, appearing as red or purple spots on the skin.
  • Decrease in red or white blood cells or platelets, causing tiredness, infections, fever, or bruising.
  • Severe rash with peeling skin, blisters on the skin or in the mouth.
  • Worsening of lupus-like reactions or unusual skin reactions.
  • Swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat.
  • Itching.
  • Back, joint, or muscle pain.
  • Liver problems (like hepatitis), causing tiredness, yellow skin/eyes, or flu-like symptoms.
  • Swelling in the intestines with stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea.
  • Cough.
  • Nausea.
  • Sudden nearsightedness.
  • Vision changes or eye pain due to high eye pressure.
  • Lupus-like disease, causing fever, joint pain, or rash.
  • Skin and lip cancer (non-melanoma type).

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to candesartan cilexetil, hydrochlorothiazide, or sulfonamide medicines.
  • Do not use if you are pregnant, especially after the first 3 months, as it can harm your baby. Talk to your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to be.
  • Do not use if you have severe kidney problems or severe liver problems or a blocked bile duct.
  • Do not use if you have persistently low blood potassium, high blood calcium, gout, or if you have diabetes/reduced kidney function and are taking aliskiren.
  • Seek immediate medical help if you experience sudden blurred vision or eye pain. These could be signs of serious eye problems that may lead to permanent vision loss if not treated.

  • This medicine can make your skin more sensitive to sunlight and increase your risk of certain skin cancers. Protect your skin from sun and UV rays. Tell your doctor if you have had skin cancer or notice new skin changes.
  • If you have had breathing difficulties or lung problems after taking hydrochlorothiazide before, or if you develop severe shortness of breath after taking Candexetil Comp, seek medical help immediately.
  • Tell your doctor or dentist you are taking Candexetil Comp if you are having surgery, as it can cause a drop in blood pressure with anesthesia.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Effectiveness is reduced in renal impairment. Consider risk of orthostatic hypotension and hyponatraemia and -kalemia. (updated 19.5.2025)
