Candexetil Comp is used to treat high blood pressure in adults. It contains two medicines that work together to lower blood pressure.

How to Use

Dosage

One tablet once daily.

Method

Swallow the tablet whole with water. Try to take it at the same time each day. You can break the tablet if you have trouble swallowing it.

Important

Maximum one tablet per day.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Low sodium in blood (can cause weakness, tiredness, and muscle cramps).

  • Changes in blood potassium (can cause tiredness, weakness, irregular heartbeat, or tingling).

  • High levels of cholesterol, sugar, or uric acid in the blood.

  • Swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat.

  • Liver problems, including hepatitis (can cause tiredness, yellow skin/eyes, flu-like symptoms).

  • Intestinal swelling (angioedema), causing stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea.

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to candesartan cilexetil, hydrochlorothiazide, or any sulfa medicines.
  • Do not take this medicine if you are pregnant (especially after the third month) or planning to become pregnant, as it can harm your baby.
  • Do not take if you have severe kidney or liver problems, or if you have a blockage in your bile ducts.
  • Do not take if you have persistently low blood potassium, high blood calcium, a history of gout, or if you have diabetes/kidney problems and are taking aliskiren.
  • Stop taking this medicine and seek immediate medical help if you experience breathing difficulties, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, difficulty swallowing, severe skin itching with bumps, or signs of acute respiratory distress (severe shortness of breath, fever, weakness, confusion).

  • This medicine can make your skin more sensitive to the sun and increase the risk of skin cancer. Protect your skin from sunlight and UV rays.
  • Tell your doctor before taking this medicine if you have heart, liver, or kidney problems, severe vomiting or diarrhea, low blood pressure, a history of stroke, or vision changes/eye pain.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Effectiveness is reduced in renal impairment. Consider risk of orthostatic hypotension and hyponatraemia and -kalemia. (updated 19.5.2025)
