How to Use

Dosage

For adults, the usual dose is 8 mg once daily for high blood pressure and 4 mg once daily for heart failure; for children (6-18 years) with high blood pressure, the dose is 4 mg once daily, with a maximum of 8 mg (under 50 kg) or 16 mg (over 50 kg).

Method

Swallow the tablet whole with water, with or without food, and try to take it at the same time each day; tablets can be divided.

Maximum 32 mg per day for adults; for children, the maximum dose is 8 mg (under 50 kg) or 16 mg (over 50 kg).

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Dizziness or light-headedness
  • Headache
  • Respiratory infection
  • Low blood pressure (may cause weakness and dizziness)
  • High blood potassium (may cause tiredness, weakness, irregular heartbeat, or tingling skin)
  • Changes in kidney function (rarely kidney failure)
RARE
  • Difficulty breathing, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, and/or throat
  • Severe skin itching (hives)
  • Decrease in white blood cells (tiredness, infections, fever)
  • Rash
  • Itching
  • Back, joint, and muscle pain
  • Changes in liver function (hepatitis, yellowing of skin/eyes, flu-like symptoms)
  • Swelling in the intestines (stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea)
  • Nausea
  • Cough
  • Low blood sodium (weakness, lack of energy, muscle cramps)
  • Diarrhea

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to candesartan cilexetil or any other ingredients.
  • Do not use if you are more than 3 months pregnant; avoid use also during early pregnancy.
  • Do not use if you have severe liver disease or blocked bile ducts.
  • Do not give to children under 1 year old.
  • Do not use if you have diabetes or kidney problems and are taking aliskiren.

  • Tell your doctor if you have heart, kidney, or liver disease, or if you are on dialysis.
  • Tell your doctor if you have vomiting or severe diarrhea.
  • Be careful if you feel dizzy or tired; do not drive or operate machinery.
  • Inform your doctor before surgery that you are taking this medicine, as it may cause a drop in blood pressure.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Reduce the dose already in mild renal impairment. Monitor renal function and potassium concentrations during the pharmacotherapy. Avoid concurrent use of NSAIDs. (updated 14.4.2025)
