How to Use

Dosage

For high blood pressure, typically 8 mg once daily. For heart failure, typically 4 mg once daily. For children (6-18 years) with high blood pressure, typically 4 mg once daily.

Method

Take your tablet with water, with or without food, at the same time each day.

Important

Adults: The maximum daily dose is 32 mg. Children (under 50 kg): The maximum daily dose is 8 mg. Children (50 kg or more): The maximum daily dose is 16 mg.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Feeling dizzy or lightheaded.
  • Headache.
  • Respiratory infection.
  • Low blood pressure, which can make you feel weak and dizzy.
  • High potassium in your blood (can cause tiredness, weakness, irregular heartbeat, tingling).
  • Changes in kidney function (rarely kidney failure).
RARE
  • Swelling of the face, lips, tongue, and/or throat.
  • Decrease in red or white blood cells (can cause tiredness, infections, or fever).
  • Rash or bumpy rash (hives).
  • Itching.
  • Back, joint, and muscle pain.
  • Changes in liver function, including hepatitis (can cause tiredness, yellow skin/eyes, flu-like symptoms).
  • Swelling in the intestines with stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.
  • Nausea.
  • Cough.
  • Low sodium in your blood (can cause weakness, lack of energy, muscle cramps).
RARE
  • Diarrhea.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to candesartan cilexetil or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Do not use if you are more than 3 months pregnant. Avoid using it during early pregnancy too, as it can seriously harm your baby.
  • Do not use if you have severe liver disease or problems with bile drainage from your gallbladder.
  • Do not give this medicine to children under 1 year old.
  • Do not use if you have diabetes or kidney problems and are taking a blood pressure medicine that contains aliskiren.

  • Tell your doctor if you have heart, kidney, or liver problems, or if you are on dialysis or recently had a kidney transplant.
  • Tell your doctor if you have severe vomiting or diarrhea, as this can lower your blood pressure.
  • Be careful if you have low blood pressure or have had a stroke in the past.
  • Talk to your doctor before drinking alcohol, as it can make you feel dizzy or lightheaded.
  • If you feel dizzy or tired, do not drive or use any tools or machines.
  • Stop taking Candexetil and seek immediate medical help if you experience severe allergic reactions such as difficulty breathing, swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat, or severe itchy skin rash.
  • Do not stop taking Candexetil without talking to your doctor, as your blood pressure may rise again.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Reduce the dose already in mild renal impairment. Monitor renal function and potassium concentrations during the pharmacotherapy. Avoid concurrent use of NSAIDs. (updated 14.4.2025)
