How to Use

Dosage

Take one Candestad Comp tablet once a day.

Method

Swallow the tablet with water. You can take it with or without food. Try to take it at the same time each day to help you remember.

Important

Do not take more than one tablet per day.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Changes in blood test results, such as low sodium or high/low potassium, which can cause tiredness, muscle cramps, or irregular heartbeats.
  • Sugar in your urine.
  • Feeling dizzy or weak.
  • Headache.
  • Respiratory infections.
RARE
  • Low blood pressure, which might make you feel dizzy or lightheaded.
  • Less appetite, diarrhea, constipation, or stomach upset.
  • Skin rashes, itchy bumps on the skin (hives), or increased sensitivity to sunlight.
  • Yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice). If this happens, see a doctor right away.
  • Kidney problems, especially if you already have kidney disease or heart failure.
  • Trouble sleeping, feeling down (depression), restlessness, or tingling/numbness in your arms and legs.
  • Temporary blurry vision.
  • Unusual heartbeats.
  • Breathing problems, including lung inflammation or fluid in the lungs.
  • Fever.
  • Inflammation of the pancreas (pancreatitis), causing moderate to severe stomach pain.
  • Muscle cramps.
  • Damage to blood vessels, showing as red or purple spots on your skin.
  • A drop in red or white blood cells or platelets, which can make you tired, prone to infections, cause fever, or bruise easily.
  • A severe, fast-developing rash with blisters or peeling skin, possibly with mouth sores.
  • Swelling in your face, lips, tongue, or throat.
  • Itching.
  • Back, joint, and muscle pain.
  • Changes in how your liver works, including liver inflammation (hepatitis) with symptoms like tiredness, yellow skin or eyes, and flu-like symptoms.
  • Cough.
  • Nausea.
  • Swelling in the intestines (intestinal angioedema) causing stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.
  • Sudden nearsightedness.
  • Vision impairment or eye pain due to high pressure in the eye (possible signs of fluid buildup in the eye or acute narrow-angle glaucoma).
  • Systemic and cutaneous lupus erythematosus (an allergic condition causing fever, joint pain, and skin rashes that may include redness, blisters, peeling, and lumps).
  • Diarrhea.
  • Skin and lip cancer (non-melanoma skin cancer).

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to candesartan cilexetil, hydrochlorothiazide, sulfonamide medicines, or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not take if you are more than 3 months pregnant (it is also best to avoid this medicine in early pregnancy).
  • Do not take if you have severe kidney disease, severe liver disease, blocked bile ducts, persistently low potassium, persistently high calcium, or a history of gout.
  • Do not take if you have diabetes or poor kidney function and are treated with a blood pressure-lowering medicine containing aliskiren.
  • This medicine may increase your risk of skin or lip cancer. Protect your skin from sun and UV light while using Candestad Comp.

  • If you experience sudden vision loss or eye pain, seek medical help immediately, as it could lead to permanent blindness if not treated.
  • If you experience severe shortness of breath or breathing difficulties after taking Candestad Comp, seek immediate medical attention.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Effectiveness is reduced in renal impairment. Consider risk of orthostatic hypotension and hyponatraemia and -kalemia. (updated 19.5.2025)
