How to Use

Dosage

The recommended dose is one tablet once a day.

Method

Swallow the tablet with water. Try to take your tablet at the same time each day to help you remember.

Important

Do not take more than one tablet per day.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Changes in blood test results (e.g., low sodium, high or low potassium, high cholesterol, sugar, or uric acid in the blood)
  • Weakness, tiredness, muscle cramps, or tingling (due to changes in blood salts)
  • Dizziness or feeling light-headed
  • Headache
  • Respiratory tract infection
RARE
  • Low blood pressure, which can make you feel dizzy or faint.
  • Loss of appetite, diarrhea, constipation, or upset stomach.
  • Skin rash, hives (itchy bumps), or increased sensitivity to sunlight.
  • Yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice). If this happens, contact your doctor right away.
  • Effects on kidney function, especially if you already have kidney problems or heart failure.
  • Trouble sleeping, feeling depressed, or restlessness.
  • Temporary blurred vision.
  • Irregular heartbeat.
  • Fever.
  • Inflammation of the pancreas (pancreatitis), causing moderate to severe stomach pain.
  • Muscle cramps.
  • Damage to blood vessels, seen as red or purple spots on the skin.
  • Decrease in red blood cells, white blood cells, or platelets. You may feel tired, get infections easily, or bruise easily.
  • Rapidly developing severe rash with peeling skin, blisters on the skin, and possibly blisters in the mouth.
  • Worsening of existing lupus erythematosus-like reactions or unusual skin reactions.
  • Back, joint, and muscle pain.
  • Changes in liver function, including hepatitis. You may feel tired, have yellow skin/eyes, and flu-like symptoms.
  • Cough.
  • Nausea.
  • Swelling in the gut (intestinal angioedema), with symptoms like stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.
  • Sudden nearsightedness.
  • Systemic and cutaneous lupus erythematosus (an allergic condition causing fever, joint pain, rash with redness, blisters, peeling, and lumps).

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to candesartan cilexetil, hydrochlorothiazide, any other ingredients in this medicine, or to sulfa drugs. Seek immediate medical help if you have difficulty breathing, swelling of your face/lips/tongue/throat, or severe itching.
  • Do not take this medicine if you are more than 3 months pregnant. It is best to avoid it during early pregnancy too, as it can harm your baby.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have severe liver or kidney problems, or gout.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have consistently low potassium or high calcium levels in your blood.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have diabetes or kidney problems and are taking another blood pressure medicine called aliskiren.

  • Hydrochlorothiazide can increase the risk of skin or lip cancer with long-term use. Protect your skin from sun and UV rays. Tell your doctor if you have had skin cancer or notice new skin changes.
  • Contact your doctor immediately if you experience sudden blurred vision or eye pain. These could be signs of serious eye problems that may lead to permanent vision loss if not treated.
  • Seek immediate medical help if you develop severe shortness of breath or breathing problems after taking this medicine, especially if you have had them before.
  • This medicine is not for use in children under 18 years of age.
  • This medicine may cause tiredness or dizziness. If you feel this way, do not drive or use any tools or machines.
  • Do not stop taking this medicine without talking to your doctor first, as your blood pressure may rise again.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Effectiveness is reduced in renal impairment. Consider risk of orthostatic hypotension and hyponatraemia and -kalemia. (updated 19.5.2025)
