How to Use

Dosage

Take one tablet once a day.

Method

Swallow the tablet with water, trying to take it at the same time each day to help remember.

Important

Do not take more than one tablet per day, unless your doctor tells you to.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Feeling dizzy or weak.
  • Headache.
  • Changes in blood tests, like low sodium or changed potassium levels, which can cause tiredness or muscle cramps.
  • Higher levels of cholesterol, sugar, or uric acid in your blood.
  • Respiratory infection.
RARE
  • Low blood pressure, causing weakness or dizziness.
  • Stomach upset, such as loss of appetite, diarrhea, or constipation.
  • Skin rash, hives, or skin sensitivity to sunlight.
  • Yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice). If this happens, contact your doctor immediately.
  • Problems with kidney function.
  • Sleep problems, depression, or restlessness.
  • Breathing problems, including lung inflammation or fluid in the lungs.
  • Inflammation of the pancreas, causing moderate to severe stomach pain.
  • Severe skin rash that develops quickly, with peeling skin or blisters, possibly in the mouth.
  • Liver problems, including liver inflammation (hepatitis), which can cause tiredness and yellow skin/eyes.
  • Acute breathing problems (signs include severe shortness of breath, fever, weakness, confusion).

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to candesartan, hydrochlorothiazide, or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Do not use if you are more than 3 months pregnant or trying to get pregnant.
  • Do not use if you have severe kidney or liver disease, or if you have a blocked bile duct.
  • Do not use if you have very low potassium or very high calcium levels in your blood.
  • This medicine can increase your risk of certain skin and lip cancers. Protect your skin from sun and UV light while using this medicine.

  • If you get sudden blurred vision or eye pain, contact your doctor right away. These could be signs of serious eye problems.
  • Stop taking this medicine and get medical help right away if you have trouble breathing, swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat, or severe itching with raised rashes.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Effectiveness is reduced in renal impairment. Consider risk of orthostatic hypotension and hyponatraemia and -kalemia. (updated 19.5.2025)
