How to Use

Dosage

For high blood pressure, typically 8 mg once daily. Your doctor may increase this to 16 mg or up to 32 mg daily. For children aged 6-18, the starting dose is 4 mg once daily, which may be increased to 8 mg, or up to 16 mg for children weighing 50 kg or more. For heart failure, start with 4 mg once daily, and your doctor may gradually increase it up to 32 mg once daily.

Method

Take the tablet whole with water, with or without food. Try to take it at the same time each day to help you remember.

Important

The maximum daily dose is 32 mg.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Feeling dizzy or lightheaded.
  • Headache.
  • Respiratory infection.
  • Low blood pressure, which can make you feel weak and dizzy.
  • Increased potassium in your blood, especially if you have kidney or heart problems. This can cause tiredness, weakness, irregular heartbeats, or tingling.
  • Changes in kidney function, especially if you have kidney or heart problems. Rarely, kidney failure may occur.
RARE
  • Swelling of the face, lips, tongue, and/or throat.
  • Decreased red or white blood cells. This can make you feel tired, get infections, or have a fever.
  • Rash or itchy bumps (hives).
  • Itching.
  • Back, joint, and muscle pain.
  • Changes in liver function, including hepatitis (liver inflammation). This can cause tiredness, yellowing of skin and eyes, and flu-like symptoms.
  • Nausea.
  • Decreased sodium in your blood. If severe, this can cause weakness, lack of energy, or muscle cramps.
  • Cough.
  • Swelling in the gut (intestinal angioedema) with stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.
  • Diarrhea.

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to candesartan cilexetil or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not take if you are more than 3 months pregnant; avoid use during early pregnancy as well.
  • Do not take if you have severe liver disease or bile duct obstruction (problems with bile drainage from the gallbladder).
  • Do not give to children under 1 year old.
  • Do not take if you have diabetes or kidney problems and are taking a blood pressure-lowering medicine containing aliskiren.

  • Talk to your doctor if you have heart, liver, or kidney problems, or if you are on dialysis.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have recently had a kidney transplant.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have severe vomiting or diarrhea.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have a rare adrenal gland disorder called Conn's syndrome.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have low blood pressure.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have ever had a stroke.
  • Tell your doctor if you are taking other medicines for high blood pressure, especially ACE inhibitors (like enalapril) or aliskiren, or MRA medicines for heart failure.
  • Talk to your doctor if you experience stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea after taking Candesartan Stada.
  • Inform your doctor or dentist if you are having surgery, as Candesartan Stada combined with some anesthetics can cause a severe drop in blood pressure.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Reduce the dose already in mild renal impairment. Monitor renal function and potassium concentrations during the pharmacotherapy. Avoid concurrent use of NSAIDs. (updated 14.4.2025)
