How to Use

Dosage

Typically 8 mg once daily, but your doctor may adjust the dose.

Method

Swallow the tablet whole with water. Take it at the same time each day, with or without food.

Important

32 mg once daily.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Feeling dizzy or light-headed.
  • Headache.
  • Respiratory infection.
  • Low blood pressure, which can make you feel weak and dizzy.
  • Higher potassium levels in your blood, especially if you have kidney disease or heart failure. This can make you feel tired, weak, or cause irregular heartbeats or tingling.
  • Problems with kidney function, especially if you have kidney disease or heart failure. Rarely, severe kidney problems may occur.
RARE
  • Swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat.
  • Decrease in red or white blood cells, which can make you feel tired, cause infections, or fever.
  • Skin rash or itchy, lumpy rash (hives).
  • Itching.
  • Back pain, joint pain, and muscle pain.
  • Changes in liver function, including liver inflammation (hepatitis). You might feel tired, have yellow skin and eyes, and flu-like symptoms.
  • Nausea (feeling sick).
  • Lower sodium levels in your blood. If severe, this can make you feel weak, tired, or cause muscle cramps.
  • Cough.
  • Swelling in the gut (intestinal angioedema) with symptoms like stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to candesartan cilexetil or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not use if you are more than 3 months pregnant (also avoid during early pregnancy).
  • If you have severe liver disease or a blocked bile duct (problem with bile flow).
  • Do not give to children under 1 year of age.
  • If you have diabetes or kidney problems and are taking a blood pressure-lowering medicine containing aliskiren.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Reduce the dose already in mild renal impairment. Monitor renal function and potassium concentrations during the pharmacotherapy. Avoid concurrent use of NSAIDs. (updated 14.4.2025)
