How to Use

Dosage

The usual starting dose is 8 mg once daily for high blood pressure and 4 mg once daily for heart failure. Your doctor may adjust the dose as needed.

Method

Take the tablets as your doctor instructs, with water, with or without food. Try to take it at the same time each day.

Important

The maximum daily dose is usually 32 mg once daily for adults and 8 mg (under 50 kg) or 16 mg (over 50 kg) for children.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Dizziness or light-headedness
  • Headache
  • Respiratory infection
  • Low blood pressure
  • Changes in blood potassium levels (can cause tiredness, weakness, irregular heartbeats, or tingling in severe cases)
  • Effects on kidney function (rarely kidney failure, especially if you have existing kidney or heart problems)
RARE
  • Swelling of the face, lips, tongue, and/or throat
  • Decrease in red or white blood cells (you might feel tired, get infections, or have a fever)
  • Skin rash or hives (itchy, raised bumps on the skin)
  • Itching
  • Back, joint, and muscle pain
  • Liver function problems, including liver inflammation (hepatitis) (you might feel tired, have yellow skin and eyes, and flu-like symptoms)
  • Nausea
  • Changes in blood sodium levels (can cause weakness, lack of energy, and muscle cramps in severe cases)
  • Cough
  • Swelling in the intestines (intestinal angioedema) with symptoms like stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea
  • Diarrhea

Important Warnings

  • Stop taking this medicine and get immediate medical help if you have any of these allergic reactions: difficulty breathing, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, and/or throat, or severe itchy skin.
  • Do not use if you are allergic to candesartan cilexetil or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Do not use if you are more than 3 months pregnant or breastfeeding. Talk to your doctor if you are planning to get pregnant or are pregnant.
  • Tell your doctor if you have severe liver disease, a bile duct blockage, or severe kidney problems, or if you are on dialysis.
  • Do not give to children under 1 year old, as it may harm their developing kidneys.

  • Tell your doctor if you have diabetes or kidney problems and are also taking a medicine that contains aliskiren.
  • Tell your doctor if you have had severe vomiting or diarrhea, or if you have low blood pressure.
  • Always tell your doctor if you are taking other medicines, especially other blood pressure medicines (like ACE inhibitors), lithium, or anti-inflammatory painkillers.
  • If you are having surgery or anesthesia, tell your doctor or dentist that you are taking this medicine.
  • Discuss alcohol use with your doctor, as it can cause dizziness or light-headedness.
  • This medicine may cause tiredness or dizziness. Do not drive or operate machines if you experience these symptoms.
  • Do not stop taking this medicine without first talking to your doctor, as your blood pressure may rise again.
  • Talk to your doctor if you experience stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea after taking this medicine.
  • Candesartan Orion may reduce your white blood cell count, making you more prone to infections. If you feel tired, get an infection, or have a fever, contact your doctor.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Reduce the dose already in mild renal impairment. Monitor renal function and potassium concentrations during the pharmacotherapy. Avoid concurrent use of NSAIDs. (updated 14.4.2025)
