How to Use

Dosage

For high blood pressure, the usual dose is 8 mg once daily, which may be increased to 16 mg or 32 mg. For heart failure, start with 4 mg once daily, increasing up to 32 mg.

Method

Swallow the tablet with water, with or without food, preferably at the same time each day.

Important

The maximum daily dose is 32 mg.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Dizziness or a spinning sensation.
  • Headache.
  • Respiratory infection.
  • Low blood pressure, causing weakness and dizziness.
  • High potassium in the blood, which can cause tiredness, weakness, irregular heartbeat, or tingling.
  • Changes in kidney function, and rarely kidney failure.
RARE
  • Swelling of the face, lips, tongue, and/or throat.
  • Decrease in red or white blood cells, which can cause tiredness, infections, or fever.
  • Skin rash or hives.
  • Itching.
  • Back, joint, and muscle pain.
  • Changes in liver function, including hepatitis, which can cause tiredness, yellow skin/eyes, or flu-like symptoms.
  • Swelling in the gut (intestinal angioedema), causing stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.
  • Cough.
  • Nausea.
  • Low sodium in the blood, which can cause weakness, tiredness, or muscle cramps.
  • Diarrhea.

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to candesartan cilexetil or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not take if you are more than 3 months pregnant; avoiding it during early pregnancy is also recommended.
  • Do not take if you have severe liver disease or a blockage in your bile ducts.
  • Do not give to children under 1 year of age.
  • Do not take if you have diabetes or kidney problems and are being treated with aliskiren.

  • Tell your doctor if you have heart, liver, or kidney problems, are on dialysis, recently had a kidney transplant, have severe vomiting or diarrhea, low blood pressure, or have had a stroke.
  • Tell your doctor if you are taking other blood pressure medicines, especially ACE inhibitors (like enalapril) or aliskiren, particularly if you have diabetes-related kidney problems.
  • Inform your doctor or dentist if you are having surgery, as Candesartan Krka combined with certain anesthetics can cause a significant drop in blood pressure.
  • This medicine may cause dizziness or tiredness; if affected, do not drive or operate machinery.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Reduce the dose already in mild renal impairment. Monitor renal function and potassium concentrations during the pharmacotherapy. Avoid concurrent use of NSAIDs. (updated 14.4.2025)
